As a small institution with a student body of just over 4,000, St Mary’s University is able to offer an unparalleled level of individual support to students. As well as standard Arts and Humanities subjects, we also offer popular courses in Drama & Theatre, Film & Media Studies, Tourism, Sport Science and Education. We are particularly renowned for the flexibility we offer in Joint-Honours degrees at undergraduate level, with many subject combinations possible.

The international of residence is a beautiful 19th century Victorian property located at 16 Strawberry Hill Road, a two-minute walk from the University and from Strawberry Hill Station.

Situated in a peaceful, leafy residential area right next to St Mary's University campus, the hall was refurbished in 2009 and comprises 18 single study bedrooms on three floors with shared bathroom facilities on each floor.

The cost of the accommodation includes a meal package (available during term time only) which includes breakfast Monday to Friday, brunch on Saturday and Sunday and a meal every evening. All meals are taken in the campus refectory, which has an extensive menu to suit a variety of needs.?

Resident students will also have use of a kitchen as a self-catering facility for periods when the refectory is closed. As well as a kitchen, the hall offers a dining room area, a common room and a garden. Free wireless internet is available throughout the building. Bedrooms are cleaned weekly and all communal areas are cleaned daily.

A resident staff warden lives next door to help students settle in and ensure they are able to make the most of student life.

International Students

International students account for almost 10% of the total student population of around 4,000 and follow full degree as well as Study Abroad and Erasmus programmes. St. Mary's University has a student centered, friendly atmosphere with very high student satisfaction rates and a strong research culture. Their Catholic ethos is rooted in a well earned tradition of making people of all faiths or no faith feel welcome, and in offering hospitality to everyone. In addition, the university prides itself in providing excellent employment opportunities for students both during and after their studies.


St Mary's University has a location that is hard to beat. The University has all the advantages of a great London location along with the peace of a beautiful self contained campus in the safe, leafy suburb of Strawberry Hill. Kingston, Richmond and central London are close by.

The large riverside towns of Kingston and Richmond are just a short bus ride away, and students will find a huge range of entertainment there. Cinemas, live music venues, pubs, several theatres, and a bowling alley await you, as well as an excellent range of shops, cafes and restaurants. Kingston night clubs offer special deals for St Mary's students and students will find other discounts for students in the area.

On top of this, London is just thirty minutes away by train from Strawberry Hill to Waterloo, giving the opportunity to take advantage of everything it has to offer from shops and entertainment to the cultural and educational benefits of access to theatres, galleries and the latest exhibitions. Public transport is frequent and runs late so it's easy to get to and from the University.

Students will also find plenty of convenient local amenities right on your doorstep since the high streets of Teddington and Twickenham are within walking distance and offer a good range of shops, restaurants and pubs. St Mary's is also in an excellent location for finding part-time jobs too.

The University is situated just a few minutes away from the River Thames in the grounds of the historic Strawberry Hill House. St Mary's uses some of the 19th Century rooms in the house but also benefits from the lovely grounds and the self contained campus they provide. Additional sports grounds are located just ten minutes walk away.

Health Services

The Health Centre is a branch surgery of The York Medical Practice in Twickenham and offers a nurse-led health service with general practitioners (GPs) in attendance. The service is available at St Mary's each weekday morning during term time, from 8am to 1pm. All students, either resident on campus or living within the locality of the practice, are welcome to register as patients.

All the usual services that you would expect to receive from your GP practice are available at St Mary's. In addition, the practice nurse offers personal advice on all aspects of student health information, including:

* Treating minor ailments

* Repeat prescriptions

* Various clinics

* Advice and help on any health matter

The University practice nurse is also trained in asthma management and travel health. All general nursing matters including sexual health screening, family planning, dressings, removal of sutures, blood tests and health promotion advice is available.
