Overview
Being a student and going to university is a fantastic experience and at the University of West London, we want to provide a university education that expands your skills, realises your potential and increases your employment opportunities. And we’d like you to have a great time along the way.
Our belief has always been that education should empower students to improve their knowledge, develop their skills and confidently reach out to achieve their aspirations in life. Our future then is a time for growth and change, and we will do this by building on our achievements and unlocking the potential of our staff and students in order to inspire creativity, innovation and enterprise.
The University of West London is currently one of the UK's most diverse and exciting institutions of higher learning. We have two sites in West London – Ealing and Brentford and our locations offer excellent amenities in and around our campus, along with world-class academic, welfare and recreational facilities.
We offer programmes of study at all levels - foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate - and we also have a range of English courses to help non-native speakers of English gain proficiency in the language.
Services for International Students
Our International Office provides help and advice on a range of issues, including the application process. They can help you prepare to come to the UK to study, including helping you apply for university. You’ll find more information on the International Office at uwl.ac.uk/international
We make sure our international students are fully supported from the moment they arrive at the University. Support includes:
• an international orientation programme with supported enrolment and social activities
• advice and assistance with opening bank accounts
• information on international student organisations in the UK
• a free pre-sessional English course available three weeks before the full-time course of study begins.
Accommodation
Our Accommodation Service offers comprehensive help to new and existing international students to help find a place to live whether in our award winning Halls of Residence or private rented accommodation. Opened in 2006, the award-winning Paragon building provides purpose-built student accommodation. Facilities include 810 single study bedrooms, each with communal kitchen/dining areas fitted to the highest standard. Every study bedroom is en-suite with broadband internet facilities. For more information visit uwl.ac.uk/paragon.
Campus
You will find much of what we can offer you as a student on campus: award-winning accommodation, the very latest teaching resources and facilities, and well-stocked libraries that also give you a window into the wider world of learning. We have two busy sites in West London, Ealing and Brentford (with accommodation) both with easy access to central London, and a shuttle bus connecting the two. Despite being one of London’s largest boroughs, Ealing has a distinctively green and leafy environment with more than 1,900 acres of park and open space. It is just 30 minutes on the Underground from Central London or 10 minutes by fast train to Paddington, with its huge range of theatres, cinemas and other entertainments. Brentford is located 1.5 miles south of the Ealing site. There are excellent bus and rail services nearby giving quick and easy access to Central London.
Welfare Support
The aim is to make it as easy as possible for international students to settle in, make friends and improve their academic English and study skills. International students can also get specialist advice and support from the One Stop Shop throughout their time here. This includes:
• student support
• visa support and information
• finance
• accommodation
