Working in the UK

International students who have Student visas have been permitted to work up to 20 hours/week in a semester.  During the breaks, it is allowed to work full-time.  It may be difficult for postgraduates to work, as they need to meet high academic standards and they have less breaks compared to undergraduates.  The average hourly wage for students is about 8 -9pounds.

How to find a part-time job

Check the notice boards or the website of language schools and universities, career center, or a local newspaper.  In general, it is fairly easy to find a job that you want.

What kind of jobs can be found?

For on-campus jobs, there are job postings for assistant-librarian, waiter for on-campus cafeterias, etc.  You can find a lot more variety for off-campus jobs.
