05 May 2016

The Universities of Oxford and Cambridge have maintained their top five positions in the Times Higher Education World Reputation Rankings which were released this week.

Other UK universities, which are second only to the US for universities appearing on the list, featuring in the top 50 include Imperial College London (15th), University College London (20th), London School of Economics and Political Science (24th), University of Edinburgh (38th), King's College London (43rd) and University of Manchester (joint 49th).

The THE World Reputation Rankings 2016 is based on a survey of more than 10,000 top scholars from around the world. Each academic was asked to name up to 15 universities that they believe are the best for research and teaching in their discipline. Votes for institutions based on research prowess were given twice the weight of those for teaching.
