The Beacon Scholarship
Scholarship Name The Beacon Scholarship
Nationality Any

The Beacon Scholarship offers access for financially disadvantaged students from Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda to undergraduate programmes of study at world class schools and universities. The Beacon Trust has partnered with the University of Bristol to offer the scholarship to one student to start their studies in the academic year 18/19. The funding will be provided for the duration of the undergraduate programme.

The scholarship is jointly funded by The Beacon Equity Trust and The University of Bristol. It covers two-thirds of the combined cost of tuition fees, living costs and one return economy airfare. (Living costs for 2018 will be approximately £10,500).

The University pays one-third of the cost and Beacon pays one-third of the cost.

The remaining third of the cost of the tuition fees, living costs and return airfare will need to be funded by the student's parent, guardian or sponsor.

The programme also includes:

  • leadership training and development
  • an Away and Home Country Mentor network
  • a goal-setting performance management system

Candidates must hold an offer from the University of Bristol in order to qualify.
