Gordon Lang (1943-2010) was an inspirational teacher at Sotheby's Institute of Art and an internationally recognised expert in ceramics. His areas of expertise included Meissen porcelain, Italian majolica pottery and, especially, Chinese ceramics. He was also immensely knowledgeable about the impact of trade between Europe and Asia, with special reference to Restoration London. By offering the Gordon Lang Scholarship, the Institute hopes to encourage future scholarship and expertise in these and similar areas.

This scholarship is a full-tuition award (excluding travel fees). Candidates of all nationalities accepted during the priority application cycle (by March 1, 2019) on the following MAs offered at Sotheby’s Institute of Art - London are eligible to apply for this award. The MAs are:

MA in Contemporary Art
MA in Fine and Decorative Art and Design
MA in Modern and Contemporary Asian Art
