The Santander Master's Scholarships (funded by Santander), aim to assist the most academically able students from leading universities to pursue a Master's programme at UCL.

Scholarships will be awarded each year to students from the following countries: 

  • Argentina
  • Brazil
  • Chile
  • Colombia
  • Mexico
  • Puerto Rico
  • Uruguay

Eligibility requirements

Candidates must:

  • be ordinarily resident in one of the Santander network countries listed above;
  • be expected to obtain, or already possess, a Bachelor's degree awarded at a level equivalent to first-class Honours in a UK Bachelor's degree, and;
  • have applied by the date of the scholarship application deadline to study a full-time Master's degree at UCL in 2019/20.

Selection criteria

Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic excellence. Financial circumstances are not taken into account. The final selection is made by a panel of UCL senior academics, who may be joined by a representative from Santander.

Value, benefits and duration

  • There are 10 (ten) scholarships available in 2019/20.
  • This scholarship is awarded for one year only, and consists of a one-off award of £5,000.
  • A scholarship cannot be deferred to a later year.
  • Unless otherwise requested by the scholar, the scholarship is usually set against tuition fees. If payment is made directly to the scholarship holder, the award is paid in three equal instalments at the start of each term.

Applications to this scholarship are currently open.

You need to hold an offer of a place at UCL in order to apply for the scholarship, so you are advised to apply for an eligible degree at UCL in good time for the Admissions Office and the relevant academic department to process and respond to your application

Instructions for accessing the online scholarship application form:

  1. Login to Portico with your normal details.
  2. Click on the ‘View’ button for the ‘Active Application’ that you wish to apply for funding for.
  3. In the application screen, click on the ‘Funding’ in the menu at the top of the page.
  4. You are now on the funding page. To find out which funds you are eligible to apply for click ***Check and apply*** under ‘Funds Available’.
  5. Click on the scholarship name of the scheme that you wish to apply for.

NB. For each programme that you wish to apply for funding for, you will need to submit a separate scholarship application form.

The deadline for applications to this scholarship will be on 15 April 2019.
