The Lord Blunkett Widening Access Award is offering bursaries to students whose circumstances may otherwise prevent them from completing their legal studies and entering the legal profession.

We offer these awards to all postgraduate students (excluding sponsored students) wishing to undertake our GDL, MA Law, LPC, BPTC or LLMs who can demonstrate strong academic credentials. Up to 20 awards are available. Each award is worth between £1,000 and £3,000.

Entry criteria:

You will need to have received an offer for one of our postgraduate courses and  be from a household with an income of £25,000 or less in accordance with the University's calculation period.

To be eligible for this award, you must obtain a minimum of a Lower Second Class degree (or international equivalent). For more information on the Lord Blunkett award criteria, download the factsheet.

  • Full name
  • Name of institution studying/ have studied with
  • Confirmation have obtained (or expect to be awarded) a Lower Second Class degree (or international equivalent)
  • Confirmation of household income
  • Any challenges you may be facing that would not allow you to continue your studies

Process:

As part of the bursary application process, you will be required to take an online assessment. Please see table below for all relevant deadlines:
