Overview

The University of Reading is located just twenty five minutes away from London in a beautiful and safe campus environment. The University of Reading was founded by the University of Oxford in 1892 and received its Royal Charter in 1926. The University of Reading has a long history in receiving international students, and currently there are 17000 students, around 3000 of whom come from 117 countries, helping to make the University of Reading a caring, vibrant and friendly place to study.

The University of Reading is ranked as one of the UK’s top 20 most research powerful universities and as one of the top 200 universities in the world.

Services for International Students

International students at the University of Reading have shown record levels of satisfaction with the learning experience. In a survey conducted in the 2007/8 academic year by the independent education research company, i-graduate, the University of Reading came first for the learning experience in an international benchmark. The survey is called the International Student Barometer (ISB) and it is the largest survey of the international student experience in the world with more than 250,000 international students surveyed since 2005.

Accommodation

The University of Reading prides itself on being a residential University where the majority of undergraduates as well as many postgraduates live in ten University owned Halls of Residence. These Halls provide nearly 4,000 rooms. All University of Reading accommodation is within a mile of the central study facilities and has easy access to shops, banks and social facilities. All Halls are located on bus routes from the town centre. Each Hall is a vibrant community with its own distinctive character, offering you a secure environment in which to study and relax. Halls vary in style and size so you can choose between a wide range of study, domestic and social facilities.

Campus

The University of Reading has a wonderful parkland style campus with many trees lakes and other forms of nature around the low lying campus buildings. The city of Reading is just 10 minutes from the main University of Reading campus and London is just 30 minutes by train which gives students of the University of Reading the best of both worlds, a natural quite academic sitting with easy access to two fantastic cities.

Health centre

The University of Reading has a full range of on-campus health facilities with doctors, nurses and dentists. All University of Reading students have full access to the health centre and all health care fees are fully covered by the National Health Service for full-time students.

Location

Located between London and Oxford on the River Thames, Reading is an historic county town of Royal Berkshire with a population of 148,000. The town lies in the south east of England and allows easy access from London's Heathrow and Gatwick airports. The University of Reading is 60 kilometres from London (25 minutes by train) and three kilometres from the centre of Reading.
