Located on England’s south coast, Portsmouth is a cosmopolitan city just 90 minutes from London by direct train. Everything you need is near campus, including: a beautiful beach, excellent entertainment, and the historic castle and dockyard.

A Top 21 UK university (Guardian University Guide 2020), our teaching is rated Gold in the Government’s Teaching Excellence Framework. With courses designed to meet the challenges of the competitive global jobs market, 97.5 percent of our graduates are working or in further study within six months after graduation (DHLE 2017). In the Faculty of Business and Law, our research and teaching covers most areas of law, business and management.

Our students learn the tools to tackle problems facing business and society, and address them responsibly and sustainably. Through the Business Consultancy Project, students work in teams with a business to improve a real business problem.

We continually improve and enhance our curriculum and student support to ensure our graduates develop self-worth and are fully prepared to become skilful professionals and socially responsible global citizens.

Preparing for a university visit is essential to maximise your time there. Some things you should do include:

  • Research the university and your favourite courses in advance.
  • Prepare a list of questions to ask.
  • Bring copies of your academic documents and any other relevant materials.
  • Dress appropriately and professionally.
  • Take notes during your visit to remember important details later.

Scholarship Support

Scholarships provide financial assistance to international students who may not have access to the same resources as domestic students. Tuition fees for international students are higher, and the expense of travelling the world to study at a UK university can offset the financial burden of studying abroad by providing vital financial support.

If you are looking for a scholarship, grant, or bursary to help fund your studies in the UK, the SI-UK team and selected UK universities can assist you with what you are eligible for.

Supporting Documents

When attending a UK university open day as an international student, you must bring along several supporting documents to ensure you have all the necessary information and materials. We recommend that you bring:

  • Academic Transcripts: Please provide copies of your high school transcripts and any previous academic qualifications, such as diplomas or certificates.
  • English Language Proficiency Certificate: If English is not your first language and you've taken an English proficiency test (such as IELTS or TOEFL), bring a copy of your test results.
  • Passport: Your valid passport or any other form of identification.
  • Visa Documents: If you already have a student visa or have applied for one, bring copies of relevant visa documents or confirmation of visa application.
  • Resume/CV: Please include a copy of your resume or curriculum vitae (CV) detailing your educational background, work experience, extracurricular activities, and any other relevant achievements.
  • Portfolio (if applicable): If you're applying for a creative or practical course that requires a portfolio (e.g., art, design, architecture), bring samples of your work or a portfolio showcasing your skills and creativity.
  • Reference Letters: Copies of reference letters from teachers, professors, or employers that support your application.

By bringing these documents, you'll be well-prepared to engage with university staff, gather relevant information, and make the most of your UK university open day experience as an international student.
