SI-UK’s annual Application Week is back ahead of 2021 entry as a wide variety of universities and institutes of higher education from across the UK and London go online to meet new international students interested in studying in the UK.

UK University Open Day

Day One, Wednesday 28 July (Register)

Birmingham City University

  • 23,500 students from over 80 countries are enrolled at Birmingham City University, making it an exciting and diverse place to study.
  • A significant proportion of undergraduate and postgraduate courses enjoy professional accreditation, including accounting, architecture, education, engineering, law, marketing, nursing, psychology and social work.
  • The University has increased its portfolio of high-tech degrees in recent years, with a particular focus on media, engineering, computing, networking, and built environment.

University of Dundee

Dundee is an established university with a progressive and dynamic outlook. An international reputation attracts top-class students and academics from across the world, with 145 countries represented in the University community. Dundee offer world-leading undergraduate and postgraduate courses in a range of subjects including law, engineering, business, medicine and life sciences.

University of East London

  • Although classed as a modern university having officially been given its full status in 1992, UEL’s heritage dates back as far as 1898. Today, UEL is one of the most diverse and fastest growing modern universities in the UK.

Keele University

Keele University is Ideally located in the middle of the UK between Manchester and Birmingham; students come to Keele because of the academic reputation, excellence of the research, and the beautiful and spacious campus, which is the largest in the UK.

University of Law

The University of Law is one of the UK's longest-established specialist providers of legal education, with a rich heritage and reputation for innovation, and they have trained more practising lawyers in the UK than anyone else and you could be next.

London Metropolitan University

Students studying at London Metropolitan University will receive excellent specialised tuition, offering a wide number of high-quality courses covering various subject areas. This is underpinned by the expertise of experienced academic staff and access to world-class resources. 

Newcastle University

Newcastle University is a world-class university dating back to 1834 with an international reputation for academic excellence. High-quality teaching, strong research profile and first-class student support make Newcastle one of the most popular universities in the UK. Regent's University London

  • Regent’s University London is a private higher education institution with a highly cosmopolitan community based in royal Regent’s Park
  • All courses are practically focused, offering experiential learning, industry work placements and internships as well as world-renowned guest speakers 
  • Average class size of just 14 students and a high staff to student ratio

University of Strathclyde

The University of Strathclyde was founded in 1796 and has a rich history of teaching and innovation. Located in the centre of Glasgow, Scotland's largest city, Strathclyde is home to students from over 100 countries. Winners of seven Times Higher Education Awards, including University of the Year 2012 and Business School of the Year 2016, the University have a world-wide reputation for teaching and research excellence.

University of Westminster

  • Offering over 300 degree courses, Westminster place particular emphasis on providing international opportunities to ensure that students are provided an environment where they can develop skills, competences and knowledge required by the global economy.

Cambridge Education Group

University of Cumbria

University of Greenwich

University of Kent

University of West London

Navitas

Navitas UK English language and pathway programmes ensure international and EU students are given the extra support and assistance needed to succeed at a higher education level. Attending an SI-UK event allows you to meet UK universities in one location, ask questions directly to university representatives, network with other students, and participate in seminars and workshops hosted by university lecturers.

  1. Before attending the event, research the institutions that are attending.
  2. Bring copies of your academic transcripts, test scores (if applicable), and any other relevant documents.
  3. Inquire about specific courses, entry requirements, scholarship opportunities, accommodation options, and support services for international students.
  4. Jot down important information during your conversations with university representatives.
  5. Collect contact information from the representatives you meet and follow up with any additional questions or inquiries you may have after the event.

Attendance at SI-UK events is free for prospective international students.

Preparing for a university visit is essential to maximise your time there. Some things you should do include:

  • Research the university and your favourite courses in advance.
  • Prepare a list of questions to ask.
  • Bring copies of your academic documents and any other relevant materials.
  • Dress appropriately and professionally.
  • Take notes during your visit to remember important details later.

Scholarship Support

Scholarships provide financial assistance to international students who may not have access to the same resources as domestic students. Tuition fees for international students are higher, and the expense of travelling the world to study at a UK university can offset the financial burden of studying abroad by providing vital financial support.

Supporting Documents

When attending a UK university open day as an international student, you must bring along several supporting documents to ensure you have all the necessary information and materials. We recommend that you bring:

  • Academic Transcripts: Please provide copies of your high school transcripts and any previous academic qualifications, such as diplomas or certificates.
  • English Language Proficiency Certificate: If English is not your first language and you've taken an English proficiency test (such as IELTS or TOEFL), bring a copy of your test results.
  • Passport: Your valid passport or any other form of identification.
  • Visa Documents: If you already have a student visa or have applied for one, bring copies of relevant visa documents or confirmation of visa application.
  • Resume/CV: Please include a copy of your resume or curriculum vitae (CV) detailing your educational background, work experience, extracurricular activities, and any other relevant achievements.
  • Portfolio (if applicable): If you're applying for a creative or practical course that requires a portfolio (e.g., art, design, architecture), bring samples of your work or a portfolio showcasing your skills and creativity.
  • Reference Letters: Copies of reference letters from teachers, professors, or employers that support your application.

SI-UK's visa consultant is registered with the Home Office OISC* (Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner) and has extensive knowledge of the latest immigration legislation, rules and regulations.
