Overview

Moira House is a day and boarding school for 400 girls (including our Nursery) and is located in the attractive, safe south coast town of Eastbourne.

Moira House achieves excellent results at GCSE and A level through a combination of small classes and experienced, enthusiastic teaching. Each year, students proceed to many of the UK’s top universities.

A busy academic timetable is supplemented by a programme of activities which offers something for everyone, especially in the fields of art, drama, music and sport.

Most students are local, with about one quarter being boarders from all around the world. Boarders up to Year 11 live in the main building and share a bedroom with generally not more than 3 other girls.

Sixth Form students have the benefit of single or double study bedrooms in their own boarding house, where the pattern of life is designed to prepare them for independent study at university.

Moira House values its international students. Support lessons in English as a Second Language form part of the programme for those who need them, without additional cost. Extra fees are payable only if a student requests 1:1 lessons.

The International Summer School at Moira House offers high quality residential courses to students from 8 to 18.

Unique Points

Moira House values every individual pupil, whatever her talents. Our students learn how to manage their time in a way which leads not only to academic success but to enjoyment and fulfilment in a wide variety of sporting and leisure activities. Our graduates are young women with independence of mind, concern for others and confidence in their ability to make an impact in whatever career they choose to follow.

Moira House: a non-selective specialist girls’ school with a clear vision of what its graduates will need as they face the challenges of a working life in the 21st century.
