Scholarships at Universidad de Cardiff

In recognition of the outstanding talent of our Chinese students, we offer a range of highly prestigious international scholarships designed to attract and reward the best students.Our China Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme will award 33 scholarships of £5,000 to outstanding students enrolling on one of our postgraduate taught programmes.

The GAOKAO Scholarship Scheme will also award three scholarships of £5,000 to exceptional students enrolling onto our undergraduate programmes directly after studying the 2022 GAOKAO.Students enrolling onto an undergraduate programme who have not studied the GAOKAO may be eligible for a £2,000 award.

Postgraduate awards

To be eligible for a China Postgraduate Scholarship you must:

• be a Chinese national when your academic application is made and be classed an international fee paying student

• have a bachelor’s degree awarded or to be awarded by a Project 211, Project 985 or Double First Class Project University

• have met the academic and English language requirement (IELTS/TOEFL) and have accepted an unconditional offer by the 16 September 2022

• be self-financed (tuition fees are being paid by you or your parents)

• pay your deposit within two weeks of being informed that you are in receipt of an award.

Our Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarships for Research Excellence are no longer available, however, alternative funding may be available through our UKRI Doctoral Training Initiatives.

Cardiff University hosts and partners in a range of UKRI Doctoral Training Partnerships and Centres for Doctoral Training.

Each has different recruitment timelines and may have variations in how many international students they can accept - this is typically up to 30%.

The Cardiff University Law Transfer Scholarship is available to eligible students transferring into either year two or year three of our LLB programmes.

Eligible students will be transferring from UK transfer programmes at the following partners:

• Brickfields Asia College (BAC)

• HELP University

• Taylors University

• INTI International University.

Or will be studying the University of London External LLB.

Award amounts

The Cardiff University Law Transfer Scholarship has varying awards based on year of entry.

• Students entering in Year 2 will be eligible for a £2,000 scholarship.

• Students entering in Year 3 will be eligible for a £1,000 scholarship.

Terms and conditions

• The Cardiff University Law Transfer scholarship has varying awards based on your year of entry.

  • Students entering in Year 2 will be eligible for a £2,000 scholarship.

  • Students entering in Year 3 will be eligible for a £1,000 scholarship.

• The scholarship will be awarded in the form of a tuition fee discount only and cannot be used in place of any required deposit. No cash alternative is available.

• The Cardiff University Law Transfer scholarship is for entry into Cardiff University in the autumn semester of academic year 2022/23 only and cannot be used for any subsequent years of entry.

  • If you are awarded a scholarship and wish to defer your entry to the University, your scholarship will not be transferred. However, you may be eligible to apply for scholarships applicable for 2023/24 entry.

• Applicants entering year two of study on the LLB programme will be entitled to a continuing scholarship of £2,000 if they successfully progress to year three of the LLB programme in 2023/24. They will not be eligible for the scholarship if they progress to year 3 in any other year of entry.

• Applicants who are in receipt of any other scholarship, bursary, funding or discount will not be eligible for this Scholarship.
