All COVID-19 travel restrictions removed in the UK

18 March 2022

The UK government has announced that all remaining restrictions on international travellers arriving in the UK are now removed.

The changes, which came into effect today (Friday 18th March), mean that:

  • No-one entering the UK will need to take a test or complete a passenger locator form
  • Unvaccinated travellers no longer need to take a pre-departure test or a day 2 post arrival test

Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said: "The UK is leading the world in removing all remaining COVID-19 travel restrictions, and today’s announcement is a testament to the hard work everyone in this country has put in place to roll out the vaccine and protect each other."

Despite the removal of all travel restrictions, the government will maintain a range of contingency measures in reserve, which would enable it to take swift and proportionate action to delay any future harmful variants of COVID-19 entering the UK should the need arise.

As Coronavirus restrictions in the UK come to an end, now is the time to begin your 2022 UK university application. Arrange your free consultation with SI-UK London today to get started.
