Arts and Humanities at Birkbeck recognised amongst best in world

The 2019 Times Higher University Rankings by subject have revealed that Birkbeck, University of London Arts and Humanities subjects are amongst the best in the world.

Birkbeck’s arts and humanities department, which includes courses on filmart and linguistics, was ranked 87th in the world, fifth in London and 18th in the UK. The criteria on which arts and humanities subjects are ranked by Times Higher Education includes teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.

Professor Anthony Bale, Executive Dean of the School of Arts, said: "I am thrilled that the high quality of the teaching and research taking place in the arts and humanities at Birkbeck has been recognised in the THE World Subject Rankings.”
