Bournemouth named among best young universities in the world

07 July 2023

Bournemouth University has been named among the best young universities in the world following the publication of the Times Higher Education (THE) Young University Rankings 2023.

The university, located on the south coast of the UK, ranked 41st in the world, rising from 62nd in 2022, and was also crowned the best young university in the UK.

Professor John Vinney, Vice-Chancellor of Bournemouth University, said, “I am proud of the achievements of our staff and students. When I see the impact of the work we do, we can be proud of what we are achieving together. These league table rises are just one measure of our success, but my thanks and congratulations go to every member of the BU community, whose hard work and commitment help to make BU what it is.”

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings assess research-intensive universities across teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook. The Young University Rankings are based on the same performance indicators as the flagship ranking, with the weightings adjusted to give more prominence to universities under 50 years old.
