Figures released by UCAS have revealed that the number of applications from international students outside the EU are up 9% on last year.
Overall numbers for international UCAS applications were 33,630 in 2019 and 34,310 in 2020. The figure ahead of 2021 entry is now 37,310, a 9% rise. Almost 50,000 EU students are also set to begin studying an undergraduate degree in the UK, a 5% rise on 2020.
Chief executive of Universities UK Alistair Jarvis said: “Embarking on a degree is a uniquely exciting time, with the skills and experience students set to gain lasting a lifetime, giving them an edge in the employment market and generating significant benefits for the UK as we rebuild from the pandemic.”
