New research reveals international students contribute £26bn to UK economy each year

18 October 2022

New research has revealed that international students contribute £26bn annually to the UK economy.

The report, produced by the Higher Education Policy Institute, in partnership with Universities UK, revealed that every part of the UK is financially better off by an average of £390 per person because of international students' contribution via fees and spending habits.

CEO of Universities UK, Vivienne Stern, said: “The fact that so many international students choose to study in the UK is a real success story, and the UK benefits in many ways from hosting them. International students contribute to the UK’s global connections in trade, politics and in research, and they make an enormous economic contribution too.”
