University of Oxford tops Times & Sunday Times Good University Guide 2023 ranking

The University of Oxford has topped the 2023 Times & Sunday Times Good University Guide ranking for the first time in 12 years.

Last year’s winner, the University of St Andrews, placed 2nd overall, while the University of Cambridge, Oxford’s Oxbridge rival, placed third in the UK.

135 universities were ranked in the 2023 edition across a range of metrics including % of students getting First/2:1s, Teaching Quality and Student Experience.

The University of Bath was named as 'University of the Year' following a record number of applicants in the 2021 and 2022 admissions cycles, while Durham University won the 'Sports University of the Year' award.

Professor Dame Louise Richardson, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Oxford, said: “My colleagues and I are delighted by this news. It is a testament to the talent and commitment of staff all across the collegiate university as well as to the creativity and resilience of our students who refused to allow a pandemic to derail their education.”
