Commonwealth Scholarships play an important role in attracting the brightest talent to UK universities, providing them with access to a world-class university education. Through these awards, universities are able to build long-term research collaborations and academic partnerships with other institutions across the Commonwealth.

Commonwealth Shared Scholarships programme offer awards jointly supported by UK universities. The support of UK universities is vital for the Commonwealth Shared Scholarships scheme. This partnership enables the CSC to maximise the number of scholarships we can offer and deliver the CSC’s aim and mission supporting its main value. Universities are invited every year to bid for up to ten Commonwealth Shared Scholarships for specified courses.
The main route of application is via national nominating agencies, invited NGOs and charitable bodies, and selected universities in low and middle income Commonwealth countries. Nominating bodies plays a key role in identifying applicants in their own priority areas and nominating these candidates accordingly. Each nominating body is responsible for its own selection process and may have additional eligibility criteria.
Commonwealth Professional Fellowships programme is for mid-career professionals from low and middle income countries to spend a period of time at a UK Host organisation working in their sector for a programme of professional development. The main purpose is to provide professionals with the opportunity to enhance knowledge and skills in their given sector, and to have catalytic effects on their workplaces.
