Important notes

There are various circumstances which will exclude a student from the Academic Merit Scholarship. Please read the list of general exclusions set out below:

  • Students who decline their place at University of Gloucestershire

  • Students who do not enrol for their course

  • Students studying a second degree

  • Students will not be eligible for this scholarship if they are a direct entry student into level 5 or above; postgraduate, EU or international student; or studying on a franchise, hybrid or validated University of Gloucestershire course at another institution.

  • Students who are awarded another University of Gloucestershire Scholarship (e.g. Sports Excellence Scholarship) are not eligible to receive the Academic Merit Scholarship as a maximum of one scholarship only can be awarded. In the event that students have applied and are eligible for more than one scholarship they will be awarded the scholarship with the highest monetary value.

  • The Academic Merit Scholarship can be cumulative with the Care Leaver Bursary.

  • The University will terminate the award for any student who ceases to be an enrolled student of the University of Gloucestershire

  • An award holder who transfers from full-time to part-time enrolment will cease to be eligible to hold the award.

Annual Renewal of the Academic Merit Scholarship

  • You will only be eligible for the second instalment if you successfully progress onto Level 5 of your course and enrol for that academic year.

  • You will only be eligible for the third instalment if you successfully progress onto Level 6 of your course and enrol for that academic year.

Points to note

  • If you progress onto a work placement year no scholarship will be available for that year. It will be deferred to your next year of study.

  • If you restart or repeat a year of study no scholarship will be available for the repeated year and you will be eligible to receive the next instalment upon progression to the next level.

  • For the avoidance of doubt no description, specification or illustration contained in any product pamphlet or other sales or marketing literature of the University and no representation written or oral, correspondence or statement shall form part of this agreement.

  • There will be a full appeals process for both the award and renewal stages but all decisions made by University of Gloucestershire will be final.
