Postgraduate Taught Global Excellence Scholarships have been created to support students wishing to develop their academic potential and contribute to our thriving University community of students and staff from over 150 countries.
Global Excellence Scholarships recognise high academic achievement and assist scholars in accessing our exceptional teaching and learning, whilst taking advantage of all that University life offers to support their ambitions for the future.

Ineligible PGT programmes – The Exeter MBA; MRes Global Political Economy; MRes Management; MRes Economics (Pathway to PhD); MSc Human Resources Management 24 or 30 months; MSc Minerals Processing (Professional); MSc Mining Engineering (Professional); MA International Film Business; MSc Island Biodiversity and Conservation; Clinical Psychology programmes delivered by Clinical Education, Development and Research (CEDAR); Master of Public Administration (MPA) with Applied Study; Legal Practice Course (LPC); Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL); MA Law (SQE1); MA Law (Conversion); LLM Legal Practice (SQE 1&2); SQE Preparation Courses;Postgraduate Certificates; Postgraduate Diplomas; Degree Apprenticeships. Fully online or distance learning programmes are not eligible.
Entry requirements
You can apply for one of these scholarships if you:
are classified as an International student for fees purposes (including any EU students required to pay International fees in 2024/25); and
already hold an offer for an eligible Postgraduate taught degree at the University of Exeter, commencing in September 2024.
Scholarship recipients are selected on:
Academic merit, based on the information you have supplied in your programme application. Applicants will be expected to demonstrate that they have achieved or are able to achieve the equivalent of UK upper second class degree. See our Entry Requirements pages for further guidance.
The ability to demonstrate the following as part of the application process: academic ambition; future career ambitions; a genuine need for the scholarship and how this will support your ambitions; a sense of social responsibility and willingness to engage with the Exeter community.
The Graduate LLB scholarship (Canada) consists of a fee reduction of £2500 in the first year of the programme and, as long as a 2:1 average (60%) is achieved in Year 1, £2500 in the second year.
The Graduate LLB is a 2-year accelerated conversion programme and is ideal for graduates from a wide range of disciplines seeking to change direction and embark on a rewarding career in law.
Please note, if you are in receipt of any external scholarship to cover your full tuition fees the amount payable by your sponsor will be reduced by the value of this award. You cannot receive more than one scholarship from the University of Exeter; if you are eligible for multiple scholarships you will be awarded whichever scholarship has the higher value.
Entry requirements
In order to be eligible for this scholarship, candidates must:
Be a Canadian national.
Be applying to commence the programme in September 2024.
Have received an offer for the Graduate LLB and made the University of Exeter's offer your 'Firm' first choice no later than the date stated on UCAS track.
Two scholarships of £12,500 are available to students who have had an application accepted to one of the Business School MSc programmes for September 2024 entry. These will be awarded to two academically gifted candidates resident in the UK or continental Europe, who would not be able to study without this financial assistance. Please note this scholarship is not available for online, MRes or PGDip programmes of study. This award is not available to International students outside the EU.
This scholarship is funded by donations from a Business School alumnus.
We will ask you to submit a covering letter and evidence of financial assistance received for your studies so far.
The closing date for this award is 30th June 2024.

By applying for this Scholarship you are agreeing to your personal details being shared with the donor and Panel members.
All scholarship awards are conditional on registration with the University of Exeter.
You cannot receive more than one scholarship from the University of Exeter; if you are eligible for multiple scholarships you will be awarded whichever scholarship has the higher value. If your tuition fees will be financed by an external body (such as an overseas government or Chevening, Commonwealth or a partner Institution) with whom the University has a shared financing agreement then this award may be invalidated or superseded with a different fee arrangement.
If you expect to receive funding from a charity please contact us for guidance.
We reserve the right to not award all of the scholarships if suitable candidates are not found.
If you defer your offer or change fee status your scholarship offer will be invalidated. In the event that you withdraw or interrupt your studies post enrolment, the University Finance regulations at that date will apply as regards any repayment or other requirements.
Please note if you are successful and accept this award, you will be required to provide regular progress reports to be shared with the donor of this award, documenting the impact the award has had on your personal and academic development. You will also be expected to make yourself available for a meeting with the donor at least once during your programme of study, which will be supported by a member of the Global Advancement Team.
In addition, you may be asked to provide a photograph and written or video profile to appear in publicity material relating to the scholarship and/or study at the University of Exeter, attend events and participate in other internal and external communications activity relating to your award.
You will also agree to the University contacting you following the completion of your studies to seek updates regarding how the award may have impacted upon or influenced your career.
This award is for one year only and is not recurrent for subsequent years of study.
This scholarship will be awarded as a reduction of the tuition fees; it cannot be paid as cash or attributed to other charges such as accommodation fees. It will be automatically deducted from your first year tuition fees following enrolment. If you choose to pay your tuition fees in instalments, the award will be deducted from the total annual tuition fee and the remaining balance split accordingly. Tuition fees deduction/s due are applied to your student account and show in your online statement within the first four weeks of study.

The Sanctuary Scholarship scheme enables individuals seeking asylum and refugees who are not able access student finance to study at the University of Exeter.
Eligibility

As well as meeting the academic requirements for your chosen programme of study you will also need to demonstrate that:
You have submitted a claim for asylum within the UK and are awaiting a response (this includes submission of a fresh claim) or
You have Limited Leave to Remain (formerly Discretionary Leave to Remain) in the UK and are not eligible for funding via Student Finance England or
You have been awarded ‘Humanitarian Protection’ or Refugee status in the UK but are not eligible for funding via Student Finance England or
You have left care in the UK and are assessed as international for tuition fee purposes and are not eligible for funding via Student Finance England or
(For applicants to postgraduate research programmes only) You have been granted refugee status* by the UK Home Office or
You are the family member of someone with one of the immigration statuses listed above with ‘in line’ or ‘dependent’ status
Programme of Study
Sanctuary Scholarship applications will be considered from students applying to the following programmes:
The following programmes are not eligible for Sanctuary Scholarship funding:
BMBS Medicine – this is due to a cap imposed by the NHS on the number of home students we can recruit to the programme. Any change to the fee status of a student during their studies would put the University in breach of this cap
Any taught or research Masters programmes (eg MA, MSc, MPhil, MbyRes)
Value of Scholarship
Undergraduates – a full tuition fee waiver plus a grant for living costs of £11,500 for each year of study.
Undergraduate students will also receive a £2000 Access to Exeter Bursary during each year of study
Doctorate Students (STEM disciplines) - a full tuition fee waiver plus an annual living cost grant of £18,622*. A research allowance of £5000 per year will also be paid. All funding will normally be for a maximum of 3.5 years.
Doctorate Students (HASS disciplines) -a full tuition fee waiver plus an annual living cost grant of £18,622*. A research allowance of £750 per year will also be paid. All funding will normally be for a maximum of 3 years.

Academic merit, based on the information you have supplied in your UCAS application. Applicants will typically be expected to demonstrate that they have achieved or are able to achieve the equivalent of GCE A level grades AAB or International Baccalaureate 34 points. For the Business School, the expectation is higher, set at GCE A level grades A*AA or equivalent. See our Entry Requirements pages for further guidance.
The ability to demonstrate the following as part of the application process: academic ambition; future career ambitions; a genuine need for the scholarship and how this will support your ambitions; a sense of social responsibility and willingness to engage with the Exeter community.
University of Exeter Business School Online Programme Scholarship

The University of Exeter Business School Online Programme Scholarship recognises achievement and ambition.
The award amounts are £5,000 for online MSc applicants and £750 for those studying individual online modules. These awards are available to UK and International applicants who already hold an offer to study a University of Exeter Business School online programme or online module beginning in May 2024.
Scholarships are available for the following subject: MSc International Business (online programme)
This scholarships is awarded as a reduction in the tuition fee against the programme or module of study. As payment for the MSc is made on a module by module basis so too the scholarship will be applied pro-rata with the £5,000 scholarship split between six 30 credit modules meaning a reduction of £833 off the £2,500 module price.
If studying a single module, you can apply for a scholarship of £750 against the module cost, you are also eligible to apply for scholarships against future modules irrespective of whether a previous scholarship application was successful. Individuals studying multiple modules concurrently can also apply for a scholarship against each module.
