Criteria
To be eligible for the scheme, applicants must meet the following criteria:
an academic achievement of grades AAB at A level (or equivalent*)
an impressive application, which demonstrates clear commitment to study in the School of the Built Environment at the University of Reading
place the University of Reading as Firm choice with UCAS by the deadline for reply as stated on your UCAS Hub account
Conditional offer holders must show they have met the conditions of their offer, and therefore hold an unconditional place on the qualifying programme, by the final deadline (normally the first week of September).
The scholarships are available to applicants from any country and apply only to those who enrol directly onto Year 1 of their course in 2024. Students who have a previous degree or other higher education qualifications will not be eligible.
This is an exciting new scholarship for 2024 that was made possible thanks to the generosity of donors who share the University of Reading’s passion for Climate Science and improving climate education.
The award provides two awards of £10,000 (this is split with £5,000 as a tuition fee discount and £5,000 as a grant towards living expenses) and is available to International students who hold an offer for one of the below courses.
Firstly, there is the Country Scholarship for all students from a large number of specific countries. Then there is the IFP Ambassador Scholarship that any student can apply for. If you have a Country Scholarship, you may also apply for an Ambassador Scholarship.
Both scholarships are worth a £3,000 discount on tuition fees. In addition, students applying for an integrated four-year degrees with International Foundation Year can apply for the Vice Chancellor Global Scholarship Award.
If you are an IFP applicant who is excited about studying at the University of Reading in the UK and are happy to share your experience with a wider audience through social media and creating content like videos and photos for the IFP, then you should apply for the IFP Ambassador Scholarship. The scholarship will provide a £3,000 discount of tuition fees for the IFP year and is open for all non-sponsored international fee paying students to apply.
The number of scholarships available is limited and so you will need to submit a scholarship application. This application will involve submitting a 3000 character essay explaining your suitability as an IFP Ambassador. Being an IFP Ambassador involves upholding the values of the programme through high academic engagement and may involve taking part in promotional activities telling prospective students about the experience of being on the IFP.
The University of Reading Master’s Scholarship schemes are now open for applications for 2024/25. The University of Reading offers an extensive range of scholarships to master’s students. Some awards are provided directly by the University, others are allocated to our students by donors and sponsors and a few are jointly funded. We are delighted that in 2024/25 we will be offering more funding than in any previous year.
The University of Reading’s Master’s Scholarships Scheme offers three funding opportunities:
Centenary Scholarships – To mark the upcoming 100th anniversary of our Royal Charter, the University is offering 125 scholarships for which all master’s students are eligible to apply. These awards have been allocated to particular countries.
Subject Scholarships – These awards are provided by most of our Schools and are course-specific. Students may be considered for both this scholarship and the Centenary Scholarship.
Alumni Master’s Scholarships – These scholarships are funded by the generosity of university donors and provide financial support for alumni who have previously studied at the University of Reading.
There are two rounds of scholarship applications received. Round One closes on 1 March 2024 and Round Two will consider applications received by 31 May 2024.
Key information
To apply for funding, a candidate must have received an offer of admission to one our master’s courses.
You do not have to pay a deposit before applying for a scholarship
Study may be on a full-time or part-time basis but flexible learning / part-time modular master’s courses are excluded.
The Centenary and Subject Scholarships for an international student is worth £5,000 and for UK / Republic of Ireland students (whose tuition fees are ordinarily lower) the amount is £2,500.
Both the Centenary and Subject Scholarships take the form of a tuition fee reduction and your tuition fees are confirmed when an offer of admission is made.
The Alumni Master’s Scholarship is a financial grant paid directly to the student, and is the same amount (£3000) for both International and UK students.
Scholarships are awarded primarily based on previous academic accomplishment.
Where a candidate is eligible for each of the three scholarships (Centenary, Subject and Alumni Master’s Scholarships), it is only necessary to complete one application – you will only be considered for any of the three awards you are eligible for, but it is possible to be selected for all three.
