Scholarships at University of the Highlands and Islands

In partnership with the British Council and the GREAT Britain Campaign, the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI) is offering one scholarship of £10,000 to students in Greece applying for one of the following on-campus postgraduate courses commencing September 2025:

• MSc Archaeological Practice

• MLitt Archaeological Studies

• MLitt Viking Studies

• MMus Music

• MRes Community Engagement

What is a GREAT Scholarship?

The GREAT Scholarships programme, launched by the British Council together with 72 UK universities, supports postgraduate students from Bangladesh, China, Egypt, Ghana, Greece, Kenya, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Thailand, Türkiye and Vietnam to access world-class UK higher education opportunities. 

The scholarship programme offers financial support of a minimum of £10,000 to students pursuing one-year postgraduate study in the UK. Students can apply for courses in a range of subjects at the 72 institutions across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Automatic scholarship for students who have spent the previous three years living in the EU/EEA or Switzerland:

• Undergraduate (full-time on-campus only) courses: Tuition fee discount of £3,000 per year for BA or BA (Hons) programmes or £4,000 per year for BSc, BEng, BSc (Hons) or BEng (Hons) programmes. Plus, Year 4 tuition is free!

• Postgraduate taught courses: 25% off tuition fees for postgraduate taught students studying either on-campus or online

Saltire Scholarships is a programme offered by the Scottish Government in collaboration with Scottish universities in the areas of science, technology, creative industries, healthcare and medical sciences, and renewable and clean energy. The scheme offers up to 50 awards, each worth £8000, towards tuition fees for any one year of full time study on a postgraduate Masters programme at any of Scotland’s higher education institutions. For students from Canada, China (including Hong Kong), India, Japan, Pakistan or USA.  

This scholarship is a 10% tuition fee discount applied at offer stage to all applicants of undergraduate programme, of at least one year in duration, whose permanent residence is either India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, and Sri Lanka.

Due to the impact of currency devaluation and other market factors in South Asia, UHI is offering scholarship to all students with a home domicile in the following countries, who are studying at one of our campuses:

• India

• Pakistan

• Nepal

• Sri Lanka

• Bangladesh

• Bhutan

The scholarship provides a 10% reduction on the published on-campus fees.

The Statkraft STEM Scholarships are to support two students for the duration of their course (up to 4 years) with an award of £3,000 per year.Statkraft, Europe’s largest renewable power generator, is supporting this STEM Scholarship Fund at UHI
