London Metropolitan University places students at the centre of everything they do. Most courses at London Met are offered on both a full-time and part-time basis, in order to best meet your needs.

The University maintain strong industry links to ensure you gain vital professional experience while you learn, with courses carefully crafted to incorporate new and emerging industry trends and practice.

Located in the centre of London, the University has three campuses and is comprised of six schools; the Cass School of Art, Architecture and Design in Aldgate, the School of Business and Law in Moorgate; and the Schools of Computing and Digital Media, Human Sciences, Social Professions and Social Sciences in Holloway.

London Metropolitan University Services for International Students

The International Office and International Programmes Office offer advice, counselling and support to international students on all manner of issues from childcare and disabilities to immigration and religious worship. The international support available at London Met is among the most comprehensive in the country and has won awards for excellence. London Met will:

  • Help students find work placements and part-time job opportunities, giving you the chance to gain valuable industry experience while studying
  • Through a graduate internship programme the University offer approximately 30 paid internships across departments every year. Interns have gone on to work at organisations such as Google and Nickelodeon
  • All undergraduate students are guaranteed a work-based learning opportunity, which counts towards your studies

London Metropolitan University Facilities

Art
The Sir John Cass School of Art, Architecture and Design (The Cass) is equipped with a range of specialist facilities, such as darkrooms; wood, metal and plastic workshops; and Metropolitan Works – a digital manufacturing centre. There’s also a recording studio, where media and music students work on live projects for external clients and our in-house TV station, Cass TV.

Business
On the simulated Bloomberg trading floor, you’ll have access to a huge database of company information, news, real-time financial instrument prices and valuation analytics, as well as the world-renowned Bankscope.

Computing
If you study computing, you’ll have access to some of the most advanced Cisco labs in London, including a specialist games programming lab and a mobile applications lab. Top students even work on real, paid projects, developing websites and animations for clients such as TimesOnline, Comic Relief and EMI Records.

Journalism
The School of Social Sciences houses a £100,000 newsroom, which was unveiled by The Guardian’s former editor, Alan Rusbridger. There are 40 computers equipped with the latest design software, large-screen TVs and a mobile TriCaster as well as interpreting and multi-media suites.

Law
The mock courtroom was used in the training which helped London Met law student Iwona Boesche win the prestigious Lady Oliver Mooting Cup in 2014. There’s a dock, a witness box and a public gallery, so you can get familiar with a courtroom environment and enhance your presentation skills.

Science
A £30 million Science Centre is one of the largest laboratories in Europe, featuring 280 work stations, and specialist labs for tissue culture research, airborne virus research and a nuclear magnetic resonance room. There are also facilities for studying sports therapy, nutritional physiology and phlebotomy.

Student Union
Meeting new people and trying new things are as much as part of the university experience as lectures. The student venue, The Rocket, hosts a wide range of events such as club nights, gigs and movie nights, as well as serving great coffee and toasted paninis. With pool tables, plasma screens, a Playstation 4, a great sound system and a courtyard garden, it’s a great place to relax.

London Metropolitan University Accommodation

London Metropolitan University has three mains Halls of Residence and gives priority to international students when allocating housing. A popular option, particularly amongst EU and international students, is a homestay, where you’ll be placed with a British family who will help you improve your English language skills. The University Accommodation Bureau can also assist with short-stay accommodation by providing information on hotels, hostels and bed and breakfasts.

London Metropolitan University is located at the centre of some of the most exciting areas to be in London. Enjoy the leafy suburbs of Islington moments way from the Holloway campus, or soak up the creative atmosphere of Brick Lane near the Aldgate buildings. Those based at Moorgate will be inspired by the stockbrokers and lawyers hard at work in the heart of the City.

Outside of lectures and study, students take advantage of the buzzing nightlife in east London, the beautiful Royal Parks, cheap eats in Brixton, live music in Camden and the museums, galleries and theatres dotted all over the city.
