The Postgraduate Academic Excellence scholarship is available for students on Postgraduate Taught (PGT) courses at Brunel University London and is available to all students who have obtained a First-Class undergraduate degree;
from a UK University, either in the UK or at an overseas campus or
obtained the equivalent of a UK First Class degree from an EU institution
Additionally, graduates of Brunel University London will receive theGraduate Discount of 15% off the final tuition fee amount due (after any the scholarship award has been applied). On the basis that they register on a taught postgraduate programme on a fully self-funding basis (including career development loans).
Value: A discount of 15% off the tuition fees.
Eligibility
The Scholarship will be awarded to all full time, part time, distance learning or online learning students who meet all the following criteria:
Have an unconditional offer to study a taught Master’s programme at Brunel University London, this includes the MBA and Mres programmes.
Have achieved a First Class honours degree from a UK University or an EU University.
For a UK degree: the award must be from a UK University, the student does not have to have attended a UK based campus.
An honours degree awarded with distinction is acceptable where no first class classification exists.
Holding a higher degree, without having achieved a First Class classification at undergraduate level does not qualify for receipt of this award.
For an EU equivalent the award must be from a recognised EU institution and be the equivalent of a First-class honours degree, as listed in appendix 1.
Those not eligible for this scholarship:
Applicants on all associate courses or modules.
Applicants undertaking short courses.
All PGCert, PGDip and PGCE courses – with the exception of the PGCE Secondary Education with PE and PGCE Primary (which are not funded by the Governments Teacher Training bursaries).
Applicants on Postgraduate Research courses.
Those who are being funded either in full or partially, this excludes those applicants whose fees are being paid by their employer, but does include:
Bursaries provided by the National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL). This discount will apply to courses that are not eligible for a bursary, namely the PGCE in Primary Education and the PGCE in Secondary Education with PE only.
Applicants on the PG Cert Education (Primary) FT.
Courses that are fully funded by the Environment Agency namely MSc Flood and Costal Engineering.
Those students who are sponsored by their Government.
Value
Students awarded this scholarship will have a discount of 15% applied to their annual tuition fee.
The reduction is applied only to the tuition fees and not to any other type of additional fee that may be incurred, such as resubmission, repeat modules or resit fees.
Brunel University London and the Mexican Fund for Human Resources Development (FIDERH) have partnered to provide full time students on Postgraduate taught and Postgraduate research courses with a 15% discount on tuition fee's.
The Scholarship is for Mexican students in receipt of a loan or financial support from FIDERH, a trust managed by the Central Bank of Mexico.
All students who are responsible for paying their own course fees in full, and who pay the full amount of fees due at or before their scheduled date of registration, may receive a early payment discount of 2% on the net course fee i.e after the application of any other discounts to which they may be entitled.
Brunel Medical School (BMS) is pleased to offer 5 prestigious scholarships for International students. The scholarship scheme is for overseas fee-paying applicants only and the awards will be based on merit.
Award details
Value: Each scholarship has a total value of 15% of the annual tuition fee across the duration of the 5-year course, (for example, 15% of year 1 tuition fee in year 1, 15% of year 2 tuition fee, etc) subject to satisfactory progress. The scholarship award will be deducted from tuition fees; it will not be awarded as cash.
Eligibility
To be eligible for a Brunel Medical School International Scholarship an applicant must:
Apply for and fulfil the academic criteria for admission to the Brunel Medical MBBS programme
Be in receipt of an offer to study on the full-time MBBS programme starting in September 2023 and have paid the deposit by the deadline, which is normally at the end of May 2023.
Applicants must meet all conditions of their offer by the time they are due to register at Brunel
Must be classed as an overseas fee-paying student based on the UK regulations. Applicants who are unsure of their fee status should note Brunel uses the information they have provided in their application form to assess fee status against regulations set by the UK government.
Those who need to undertake an English Language course at Brunel Language Centre (BLC) prior to starting the MBBS can apply for a Brunel Medical School International Scholarship.
Those not eligible for these scholarships:
Applicants NOT classed as overseas for fees purposes based on the UK government regulations, or those with an unresolved fee status.
Applicants sponsored by their home governments.
Applicants who will NOT commence their course in September 2023.
Brunel graduates awarded the 15% Graduate Discount applied to the net tuition fee.
The Brunel Medical School Admissions team will be responsible for reviewing the eligibility of students.
Conditions of fee waiver
Scholarships are awarded for September 2023/24 entry only and cannot be deferred to later months or years of entry. Course applicants who intend to defer their studies must re-apply for a scholarship in the year they will begin their studies.
Scholarship recipients will be responsible for paying the remainder of their tuition fees after the scholarship contribution is deducted from the total fees for each academic year.
The scholarship does not replace the deposit of £10,000. All scholarship recipients will need to pay the £10,000 deposit for their course in order to receive an unconditional offer and a Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS). The amount of their scholarship will be deducted from the remaining fees.
The fee waiver will only be made providing the student is fully enrolled at the University on the Brunel Medical MBBS programme, which includes having had their qualifications and other documentation verified and checked, and then completing the University enrolment procedures. This includes holding the correct visa to study.
Payment in subsequent years will only be made providing the student progresses to the next level of study [scholarship payments will not be made during a repeating year until the student has satisfactorily progressed to the next level].
Scholarship holders are expected to perform well in their studies, and to uphold a high level of professionalism and integrity. Scholarships may be withdrawn if students fail to meet the above expectations.
