Scholarships at Leeds Beckett University

To qualify for the Carnegie Sports Scholarship, applicants must not only showcase exceptional sporting achievements but also embody the core values of Leeds Beckett University. Recipients are expected to represent the university in British Universities and Colleges Sports (BUCS) events, contributing to the vibrant and competitive sporting community we foster.

Successful undergraduate recipients will receive a £6,000 annual scholarship. Postgraduate recipients will receive a 50% discount on postgraduate taught fees.

American Football

Must meet one of the following criteria:

• Non- GB adult programme member.

• Extensive experience and high performance levels in European leagues.

• Extensive experience and high performance levels in North American leagues/divisions.

Football

Must meet one or more of the following criteria:

Men

• Be a regular contributor to a 1st team squad in Step 4 or above of the FA's National League pyramid OR equivalent home nation league experience.

• Have been part of a football academy at a club within Step 2 or above of the FA's National League pyramid and received an academy scholarship until U18. 

• Senior or age group international. 

Women

• Be a regular contributor to a 1st team squad in Tier 4 of the FA's Women's Football pyramid or above OR equivalent home nation league experience.

• Have been part of a football academy at a club within FA Women’s Super League/ FA Women’s Championship level and received an academy scholarship until to U18.

• Senior or age group international.

Athletics

Must meet one or more of the following criteria:

• Will be assessed based on European U20 and U23 championship standards.

• Must have competed at a national or international level.

• All athlete personal best information must come from an official national governing body.

Cricket

Must have previous experience playing at or above a National U17's or U19's level.

Netball

Must meet one of the following criteria:

• Home Nation Senior / Age Group International. Super League squad player.

• NPL playing with 80% court time in the last 3 years.

Rugby League

Must meet one of the following criteria:

• Championship or Championship 1 playing experience

• Super League Reserves

• Queensland/Bartercard Cup

• Elite 1 in France

• Four Nations international/Great Britain playing experience

Rugby Union

Must meet one of the following criteria:

• Previous regular playing experience, or competition experience to be assessed by coaching team.

• Professional club academy experience.

Tennis

Must meet at least one or more of the below criteria: 

• Has or has had an ATP/WTA ranking point(s) or shows regular competition at futures level , points must have been earned by winning and not a wild card granted entry to main draw

• Has been ranked Top 500 Junior ITF. 

• Has been nationally ranked inside the Top 20 as a junior within a select number larger Tennis Federation countries.  

• Was at an NCAA Div 1/D2 University playing in the team regularly with a UTR of 11.8 or better . 10 or better for females.

• Shows a history of developing as a player towards ITF futures /challenger level.

Fostering a diverse academic community

The Dean's Scholarship is aimed at undergraduate students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement. Successful candidates will receive a scholarship worth £6,000 per year.

To qualify for the Dean’s Scholarship, candidates must:

• Meet country-specific academic entry requirements (see eligibility criteria below).

• Complete the online application form, which includes a video submission requirement.

• Shortlisted candidates will be invited to take part in an interview panel. 

• Receive an Unconditional offer by 28 November for January 2026 start.

• Receive an Unconditional offer by 30 June for September 2026 start.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the scholarship discount you must:

• Be assessed as having an ‘Overseas or EU’ residency status

• Be assessed to pay the overseas fee

• Be studying the relevant course full time

• Be actively enrolled on an eligible course

• Be a self-funded student, who is paying the full course fee for that year (those students who have their tuition fees paid by a third-party sponsor, employer or government agency will not be eligible)

• Studying that level of the course for the first time (i.e. not repeating any level during that year)

In addition, students from India must meet the following requirements: 

Entry Requirements: 

Class 12th CBSE - 75% and above

Class 12th State Board - 80% and above

IELTS Score (or equivalent): 6.5 with no skill below 6.0

Postgraduate Courses

Postgraduate Courses - Eligible individuals studying the following postgraduate courses will be able to receive the scholarship amount stated for their first year*:

• MBA Graduate Master of Business Administration - £2,000

• MSc Management (Including pathways) - £2,000

• MSc Construction Management - £2,000

• MSc Data Science - £2,000

• MSc Advanced Engineering Management - £2,000

• MSc Advanced Computer Science - £2,000

• MSc Information and Technology - £2,000

Eligible individuals studying postgraduate courses not mentioned above may be able to receive a scholarship of £3,000 for their first year.  

Research Courses

• Eligible individuals studying Research Courses will be able to receive a scholarship of £1,500 per year. 

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the scholarship discount you must:

• Be studying the relevant course full time

• Be actively enrolled on an eligible course

The Leeds Law School scholarship is available for all students who apply for a Law course starting in September 2026 per year.

• Undergraduate LLB (Hons) courses (on-campus and distance learning): £5,750

• MLaw Law and Professional Legal Practice course: £5,750

• LLB (Hons) Law Senior Status: £5,750

• Postgraduate LLM courses (on-campus only): £6,000

• LLM and PG Dip Legal Practice (distance learning): £1,450

• LLM International Trade Law (on-campus and distance learning): £6,000

• LLM International Human Rights (on-campus and distance learning): £6,000

• 2 scholarships available for MA Expanded Spatial Practices 

• 2 scholarships for MA Interior Architecture: Practices of Reuse 

• 3 scholarships for MA Landscape Architecture or MLA Landscape Architecture

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Leeds School of Architecture scholarships, you must have achieved at least a UK first-class or upper second (or overseas equivalent) undergraduate award from a related course. 

1. You must receive an unconditional offer from Leeds Beckett from one of the eligible courses by 25 May 2026.  

2. Shortlisted scholarship applicants will be invited to an online interview in June 2026, during which you will be asked to present your design portfolios.

3. You must also satisfy all of the conditions of entry for postgraduate study at Leeds Beckett University. 

4. This scholarship is open to applicants assessed as having an ‘Overseas or EU’ residence.

50% International Postgraduate Fee Scholarship

The Leeds School of Arts scholarships will be awarded on the basis of exceptional academic performance and design experience, evidenced through an interview and design portfolio.

Northern Film School

Funding Available - 10 x 50% scholarships

The scholarships are available for full-time taught Masters courses and will be applied as fee waivers towards the cost of tuition fees.

• 2 scholarships available for MA Screenwriting: Feature Film and Continuing Series

Have achieved at least a UK first-class or upper second (or overseas equivalent) undergraduate award from a related course.

• You must also satisfy all of the conditions of entry for postgraduate study at Leeds Beckett University. 

Art & Design

Funding Available - 14 x 50% scholarships

The scholarships are available for full-time taught Masters courses and will be applied as fee waivers towards the cost of tuition fees.

• 3 scholarships available for MA Graphic Design

• 2 scholarships for MA Fashion Communication

Have achieved at least a UK first-class or upper second (or overseas equivalent) undergraduate award from a related course. 

• You must receive an unconditional offer from Leeds Beckett for the above courses by 22 May 2026.

• Shortlisted scholarship applicants will be invited to an online interview in June 2026, during which you will be asked to present your design portfolios.

• You must also satisfy all of the conditions of entry for postgraduate study at Leeds Beckett University.

Music, Sound and Performing Arts

Funding Available - 2 x 50% scholarships

The scholarships are available for full-time taught Masters courses and will be applied as fee waivers towards the cost of tuition fees.

Subject-specific criteria:

Have achieved a UK first-class or upper second (or overseas equivalent) undergraduate award from a course pertaining to Music, Sound or Performing Arts, which includes but is not limited to, Acting, Dance, Performance, Music Performance, Music Production or Music Technology.   

• You must receive an unconditional offer from Leeds Beckett for a Masters Programme in Music, Sound and Performing Arts by 22 May 2026.

• Shortlisted scholarship applicants will be invited to an online interview in June 2026, during which you will be asked to present your design portfolios, which may include university and practice-based projects. 

• You must also satisfy all of the conditions of entry for postgraduate study at Leeds Beckett University.  

Dance and Choreographic Practice

Funding Available - 2 x 50% scholarships

• MA Dance and Choreography

Subject-specific criteria:

You must have achieved a UK first-class or upper second (or overseas equivalent) undergraduate award from a dance or performance related subject.  

• You must receive an unconditional offer from Leeds Beckett on one of the courses above by 22 May 2026.

• Shortlisted scholarship applicants will be invited to an online interview in June 2026, during which you will be asked to present your dance MA Dance & Choreography portfolio, which may include university and practice-based projects.  

• You must also satisfy all of the conditions of entry for postgraduate study at Leeds Beckett University. 

• This scholarship is open to applicants assessed as having an ‘Overseas or EU’ residence status.

Music and Sound for Interactive Games and Sound Design

Funding Available - 2 x 50% scholarships

The scholarships are available for full-time taught Masters courses and will be applied as fee waivers towards the cost of tuition fees.

Subject-specific criteria:

You must have achieved a UK first-class or upper second (or overseas equivalent) undergraduate award from an Games Design, Games Audio or Sound Design course or equivalent.

• You must receive an unconditional offer from Leeds Beckett by 22 May 2026.

• Shortlisted scholarship applicants will be invited to an online interview in June 2026, during which you will be asked to present a portfolio of work, which may include university and practice-based projects. 

• You must also satisfy all of the conditions of entry for postgraduate study at Leeds Beckett University.
