Scholarships at University of Sunderland

20% waiver on the full cost of course fees to reward loyal alumni who return to study a postgraduate degree at the University.

Who can apply?

Alumni (graduates of the University) who enrol on a full or part-time postgraduate course (MA, MSc, LLM, MBA, MPhil, PhD, Dprof, DBA, EdD, or PhD by Existing or Creative Works) delivered at either of our Sunderland campuses starting between 1 August 2025 and 31 July 2026.

How much will I get?

You’ll receive a 20% fee reduction.

The University is the recipient of a generous donation from eminent architect Mike Davies CBE, to support students studying art and design subjects. The 'Global Challenges' scholarship will support students in undertaking a project or opportunity to develop creative practice for the potential benefit of others whilst tackling current global challenges.

Five annual scholarships are available of up to £1,000.

How much will I get?

Up to £1,000 is available to support projects to develop creative practice while tackling global challenges.

We are offering £6,000* tuition fee reduction for our undergraduate courses, £5,000 for our MPharm Pharmacy or £5,500* tuition fee reduction for postgraduate courses.

Who can apply?

International students from eligible countries studying our on-campus undergraduate, MPharm Pharmacy and postgraduate courses (excluding preparation courses such as foundation courses, EAP or pre-masters).

These discounts are available to new applicants for 2026/27 entry and those who have yet to make a deposit payment. Please note that certain courses are excluded from this offer. The discounts for these courses are as follows:

How much will I get?

£1,000 financial assistance to help students complete their course.

Who can apply?

Those with an offer to study MA Visual Practice or MA Design. You must meet specific scholarship criteria.

£1,000 financial assistance to help students complete their course.

A scholarship of up to £1,500 per academic year, supported by the work of the Hope Winch Society. The Hope Winch Society supports and maintains the connection between our pharmacy school and all pharmacy alumni. This scholarship is funded by philanthropic donors via the University’s Development and Alumni team.

Current undergraduate MPharm Pharmacy students who face serious financial challenges that impact their academic potential.

How much will I get?

£1,500.

What is it?

Four annual scholarships of up to £750 each are available thanks to a generous donation in memory of Mary and Brian Archer, who both taught at the University.

Who can apply?

Applications are welcome from full-time, part-time, home, EU or overseas students studying at our Sunderland or London Campus. This award does not support PhD study or IT equipment.

How much will I get?

Up to £750.

A scholarship that supports Bulgarian students to elevate their education with a master's degree at a foreign university. They will then apply this knowledge in their home country.

Students can stay for up to six months after graduation for a placement/internship.

Who can apply?

Applicants must have Bulgarian citizenship and either a bachelor's or master's degree. They must have applied for their chosen course at the University of Sunderland and show intention to pursue a career in Bulgaria.

How much will I get?

Up to £9,000.
