Chevening Scholarships are the UK government's global scholarship programme, funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations. The programme makes awards to outstanding scholars with leadership potential from around the world to study postgraduate courses at universities in the UK. Durham University is proud to partner Chevening in 2023/24.

In addition to the Open Awards, the University have 10 Partnership Awards open to applicants from all Chevening eligible countries.

Our comprehensive package of scholarships celebrates and rewards exceptional candidates applying to our Masters programmes.

All Durham University Business School Masters programme offer holders for October 2023 entry will be automatically considered for applicable scholarships; no separate scholarship application is necessary.

Scholarships will be applied as a discount against the full tuition fee for the programme.

Eligibility

Based on the eligibility criteria below, scholarships will be awarded to Durham University Business School Masters programme offer holders (excluding Business Analytics) who:

• have an impressive academic record

• have the potential to contribute and enrich all aspects of the Masters programme and the diverse academic and cultural profile of the Masters class

• have the potential to become an outstanding future alumni ambassador and contribute positively back to the School, organisations and communities.

Terms and Conditions

To be considered for one of the Durham University Business School Masters Scholarships (tuition fee discounts) for October 2023 entry, applicants must:

• Complete the appropriate programme application process in full and be in receipt of a conditional offer by deadlines specified.

• Be available to take up their programme place in the 2023/24 academic year.

• Be willing to participate and cooperate in marketing and communications activities for the School. This may include testimonials and public relations opportunities, as well as being involved in and attending Open Events, Webinars or being a class representative.

• Be completely self-funding in order to be eligible for this tuition fee discount. Where fees are paid by an employer, private provider or government body, applicants will not be considered for a scholarship. Failure to disclose external funding will invalidate any scholarship offering.

These important scholarships are available thanks to a partnership with the China Scholarships Council. The scholarships are open to applicants from Mainland China wishing to study for a PhD at Durham. Details of the eligibility criteria along with information specific to applicants applying for this joint scheme are included below for information.

Eligibility

Applicant must:

• Be citizens and permanent residents of the People's Republic of China at the time of application. Chinese students studying overseas may also be eligible for application subject to CSC policies

• Hold an unconditional offer to study for a PhD degree at Durham commencing in October 2023, including English language requirements at the time of application to the CSC

• Satisfy entry required as outlined by the CSC at the time of application

• Successful candidates are required to return home upon completion of their studies

Please note:

• Students who have already commenced their doctoral degree at Durham are not eligible

• These scholarships cannot be held on a part-time basis

Eligibility

Applicants must be domiciled and have nationality of one of the following countries:

• Bangladesh

• India

• Malaysia

• Nigeria

• Pakistan

• Vietnam

Applicants must be completely self-funding and international fee payers only in order to be eligible for this tuition fee discount. Where fees are paid by an employer, private provider, government body or you are in receipt of another Durham University scholarship (e.g. Team Durham), applicants will not be considered for a scholarship. Failure to disclose external funding will invalidate any scholarship offering. Please note, this does not include the Postgraduate Master’s Loan.

Applicants must be willing to participate and cooperate in marketing and communications activities (Scholarship Commitments) for their Faculty/Durham University. This may include testimonials and public relations opportunities, as well as being involved in and attending Open Events, Webinars or being a class representative.

Scholars who withdraw from their Scholarship Commitments or from the University will have all future scholarship discounts cancelled.

Scholars who suspend their Scholarship Commitments or academic studies will have all future scholarship discounts cancelled. Please note that only under exceptional circumstances e.g. medical reasons, and at the sole discretion of the Faculty Executive Dean, approval may be given for discounts to recommence after suspended studies continue.
