Exclusively for new Medway postgraduate students applying for Liberty Quays accommodation for 51 weeks, 8 scholarships of £5,000 are available as a contribution to the cost of accommodation for one year only. The scholarship is available to both taught and research students, from any country, paying tuition fees at either the home or overseas rate. If you are awarded the scholarship, you would be living in an en-suite room in a flat with other postgraduate students. 

Liberty Quays is a great accommodation option for students in Medway. The accommodation has two purpose-built social spaces making it easy to socialise, as well as a University Bar and Grill, "Cargo" on the retail plaza. For more information about the accommodation, please visit:


  • Students must have received a conditional offer for their programme of study, and have accepted it by 30 June 2020 for their scholarship application to be considered.
  • Students must have also applied for accommodation at Liberty Quays for 51 weeks (Saturday 5 September 2020 to Saturday 28 August 2021) by the accommodation deadline, 31 July 2020. To request the accommodation for 51 weeks please add this as a note to your application.  
  • Scholarship offers will be provisional until all remaining conditions of the offer have been fulfilled and until the Liberty Quays accommodation application has been submitted.  
  • The scholarship is for one year only and cannot be deferred. 
  • Students in receipt of a maintenance stipend or other award which supports living expenses during study will not be eligible for this award. 
  • Only available to students beginning a degree level programme at Kent in September 2020.

To apply, you will be required to provide a statement as follows ‘Please explain in no more than 250 words why you chose to study at the University of Kent at Medway and what attracted you to this location’.
