Scholarships at University College London (UCL)

The Division of Medicine is offering three bursaries worth £5,000 to study a range of master's degrees in 2025. You must hold an offer to study one of the participating courses before you can apply.

Eligibility

• All bursaries are open to UK and overseas students.

• All bursaries are awarded by a combination of academic merit and financial need.

• They are not available for postgraduate diplomas, postgraduate certificates or short courses.

• You must hold an offer to study one of the participating degrees to apply for a bursary.

Biomedical Sciences Programme Bursary

One bursary of £5,000 for students on the following programmes:

• MSc Advanced Biomedical Imaging

• MSc / MRes Clinical Drug Development

The Gabo Trust Scholarship supports those wishing to become contemporary art conservators specialising in modern and contemporary sculpture.

Key Information

Value: Half tuition fees for two years.

Available to: Students who have been offered a place on the MSc in the Conservation of Contemporary Art and Media at UCL East.

Selection criteria: Proven commitment and demonstrable interest in the conservation of modern and contemporary sculpture; financial need.

Eligible fee status: Two scholarships are offered yearly for two years, one to a Home (UK and Ireland domicile only) student and one to an Overseas student.  

Eligible programme: MSc Conservation of Contemporary Art and Media  

Application deadline: 23:59 BST, Monday 12 May 2025

The Gabo Trust Scholarship presents a unique opportunity, covering half the fees for one UK student and one Overseas Student, who has been offered a place on the two-year MSc in the Conservation of Contemporary Art and Media with a proven commitment and demonstrable interest in the conservation of modern and contemporary sculpture.

The awards are offered based on:

• a proven commitment to the conservation of modern and contemporary scultpure and a desire to specialise in the conservation of modern and contemporary sculpture

• financial need.

Recipients will be required to write a short article for the Gabo Trust’s website on completion of their studies, describing the projects completed and how the Gabo Trust Scholarships have contributed.

Eligibility and selection

Students must meet all of the below criteria with no exceptions, with which a dedicated panel awards the scholarship:

• An offer to study on the UCL MSc Conservation of Contemporary Art and Media programme in 2024-26.

• Financial need - UCL recognises the following as impactors of financial need: dependent children, disabilities, experience of care, receiving state benefits, forced migration (refugee, asylum seeker, those who have been granted a temporary form of leave as the result of an asylum or human rights application).

Value, benefits, and duration

• Four scholarships are available in the 2025/26 academic year. Two awards will be reserved for two existing second-year students in the MSc in the Conservation of Contemporary Art and Media. 

• The value of the scholarship is half the fees for one Overseas and one UK student currently in their second year for one year, and one overseas and one UK student who will be starting the two-year programme in 2024/25 for two years.

The scholarship application deadline will be 23:59 BST, Monday 12 May 2025.

The UCL Global Master's Scholarship aims to enable and encourage international students from lower income backgrounds to pursue full-time Master's degree studies at UCL.

Key information

• Value: £15,000 (for one year)

• Available to: Prospective students

• Selection criteria: Financial need

• Eligible fee status: Overseas

• Eligible programmes: All postgraduate taught

• Deadline: 5pm BST, Thursday 8 May 2025

Eligibility

Candidates can be from any country outside the UK but must fulfill all of the following criteria:

• be eligible to pay the Overseas fee rate;

• come from a lower income background*;

• AND have submitted a complete admission application (including the submission of references) for a full-time Master's degree at UCL in 2025/26.  

• Please note: Distance-learning options are not eligible for this fund; students must be coming to the UK to attend UCL in person.

Value, benefits, and duration

• There are up to 85 (eighty-five) scholarships available in 2025/256 with five aimed specifically at students from India.

• The value of the bursary is £15,000.

• The scholarship is tenable for one year only unless the full-time programme is 2yrs in length.  In that case the scholarship will be paid 50% in each year.

• The UCL Global Masters Scholarship may be held alongside other scholarships, studentships, awards, or bursaries depending on the total value of other funds received by the student.

• Scholarship recipients are obliged to inform the UCL Student Funding Office immediately of any other funding they are awarded towards their UCL Master’s degree studies, before or subsequent to the UCL Global Masters Scholarship being awarded.

• The scholarship will first be applied to the recipient’s tuition fees, with any remainder payable to the recipient in three equal instalments, throughout the academic year, towards maintenance.

The deadline for applications to this scholarship will be at 5pm BST, Thursday 8 May 2025.

The UCL Global Undergraduate Scholarship aims to enable and encourage international students from low income backgrounds to pursue full-time Undergraduate degree studies at UCL.

Key information

Value: 10 awards of full tuition fees and maintenance allowance, and 23 awards of full tuition fees

Available to: Prospective students

Selection criteria: Financial need

Eligible fee status: Overseas

Eligible programmes: All Undergraduate degrees

Deadline: 5pm BST, Monday 28 April 2025

Eligibility

Candidates can be from any country outside the UK but must fulfill all of the following criteria:

• be eligible to pay the overseas tuition fee rate;

• come from a low income background*;

• AND have submitted an admission application for a full-time Undergraduate degree at UCL in 2025/26. 

 For details on how UCL defines household income, please refer to our essential information page. While UCL generally considers "low income" as £42,875 or less, this is intended as a guide. We will still consider your scholarship application if your household income exceeds this amount.

Value, benefits, and duration

Up to 33 scholarships will be offered in 2025/26, including:

• 10 scholarships covering full tuition fees, a maintenance allowance and a fixed allowance for additional costs (e.g. Immigration Health Surcharge and visa fees). The exact amounts for the maintenance and fixed allowances will be confirmed at a later date.

• 23 scholarships covering full tuition fees only.

• 3 scholarships covering full tuition fees specifically for students from India.

The scholarship is valid for the standard duration of the undergraduate programme.

The UCL-GREAT Scholarships 2025 are jointly funded by UCL and the British Council to provide financial support to citizens of Egypt, France, India and Kenya (Science and Technology).

• Eligible programmes: Postgraduate taught

Eligibility

Candidates must be passport holders and residents of Egypt, France, India and Kenya (Science and Technology).

Candidates from Egypt, France and India must have made an application to study any full-time Master's degree in any faculty at UCL in 2025/26 in order to apply for the scholarship.

Candidates from Kenya can apply for the GREAT Science and Technology Scholarship. You must have made an application to study a Masters degree in one of the following faculties only: Brain Sciences, Engineering Sciences, Life Sciences, Maths and Physical Sciences, Medical Sciences and Population Health Sciences. 

Please note you must hold an offer of a place on your chosen Masters at UCL by the scholarship closing date of Thursday 8th May 2025.

• There are 4 scholarships available in 2025/26. 1 for Egypt, 1 for France, 1 for India and 1 for Kenya (Science and Technology).

• The value of the scholarship is £10,000.

• The scholarship will be applied to the recipient’s tuition fees.

• Award recipients are obliged to inform the UCL Student Funding Office immediately of any other funding they are awarded towards their UCL Master’s degree studies, before or subsequent to the UCL – GREAT scholarship.

The UCL India Excellence Scholarship aims to enable and encourage Indian students with an outstanding academic record to pursue full-time Master's degree studies at UCL.

Key information

• Value: £5,000 (for one year)

• Available to: Prospective postgraduate taught students

• Selection criteria: Bachelor’s degree GPA and NIRF ranking of current/previous institution of study

• Eligible fee status: Overseas

• Eligible programmes: All postgraduate taught (excluding distance learning programmes)

• Deadline: 5pm BST, Thursday 27 February 2025

Eligibility

Candidates must fulfil all of the following criteria:

• be eligible to pay the Overseas fee rate;

• be permanently domiciled in India;

• have a bachelor’s degree, or be enrolled in the final year of a bachelor’s degree, from an institution listed in the Top 100 of the Government of India’s National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF );

• have a GPA in their bachelor’s degree that is equivalent to a UK first-class degree;

• AND have submitted a complete admission application (including references) for a full-time Master's degree at UCL in 2024/25 by 5pm BST, Thursday 27 February 2025.  Please note: Distance-learning options are not eligible for this fund; students must be coming to the UK to attend UCL in person.

Value, benefits, and duration

• There are up to 33 (thirty-three) scholarships available in 2025/26 

• The value of the bursary is £5,000. 

• The scholarship is tenable for one year only unless the full-time programme is 2yrs in length. In that case the scholarship will be paid 50% in each year.

• The UCL India Excellence Scholarship may be held alongside other scholarships, studentships, awards, or bursaries. The amount of the UCL award may be adjusted depending on the total value of other funds received by the student.

• Scholarship recipients are obliged to inform the UCL Student Funding Office immediately of any other funding they are awarded towards their UCL Master’s degree studies, before or subsequent to the UCL India Excellence Scholarship being awarded.

• The scholarship will first be applied to the recipient’s tuition fees, with any remainder payable to the recipient in three equal instalments, throughout the academic year, towards maintenance.

Preventing and redressing the impact of inequalities is a core philosophy of the UCL Master of Public Health (MPH). To reflect this, we are offering two scholarships annually which will support applicants who have demonstrated financial need, who have lived experience of inequality, and who show great promise for population health impact. The IMPACT scholarship up to the value of £20,500 will contribute towards the recipient’s full-time fees to study on the MPH programme. People wishing to study part-time or modular flexible are also welcome to apply and the scholarship up to the value of £20,500 will contribute towards the recipient’s fees and will be applied pro rata.

Eligibility

Candidates must fulfil all of the following criteria:

• Has lived experience of inequality. This may include, but is not limited to, experience of inequality due to income, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, carer responsibilities, adverse childhood experiences, social exclusion, or disability.

• Meets the admissions criteria for UCL online Master of Public Health (MPH).

• AND have submitted an admissions application for the MPH programme at UCL, starting in 2025/26.

Value, benefits, and duration

• There are up to two bursaries available in 2025/26.

• The value of the bursary is £20,500. 

• The bursary is tenable for students who wish to study full time, part time of via modular-flexible.

• The bursary will first be applied to the recipient’s tuition fees.

We offer a scholarship to the student with strongest academic performance on each UPC pathway.

Key information

• Value: Two awards of £5,000 (per year) towards undergraduate tuition fees.

• Available to: UPC students progressing onto a UCL undergraduate degree.

• Selection criteria: Academic performance throughout the UPC.

• Eligible programmes: All undergraduate degrees.

Eligibility

To be eligible, you will be:

• enrolled on UCL's Undergraduate Preparatory Certificates for Humanities (UPCH) or Undergraduate Preparatory Certificates for Science & Engineering (UPCSE) programme.

• admitted for undergraduate studies at UCL.

Value: benefits and duration

The scholarships include £5,000 for each year of the undergraduate programme. This money is applied to the tuition fee.

The annual renewal of the scholarship requires adequate progress. You’ll need to receive an upper second-class honours (2:1) or above throughout your course.
