Scholarships at UCFB & GIS

• Offered in partnership with the Jason Roberts Foundation, the scholarship programme is open to an outstanding applicant holding an offer for any of GIS Master’s programmes. Candidates should have an interest in inclusion and diversity within sport, have the ability to lead, and possess experience with outreach work within a local community.

Scholarship includes: 

• Mentorship with GIS Global Advisory Board Member Jason Roberts

• 15% reduction in Master’s tuition fees

• £500 towards sports industry events and costs associated with involvement in projects with the Jason Roberts Foundation 

Eligibility Criteria: 

6-12 months experience within a sports organisation in their local community.

Scholarship Includes: 

• 25% reduction in Master’s tuition fees

• Mentorship throughout degree with Dean of GIS School of Sports Business and Management

• Ticket to Global Summit of your choice (worth up to £1500)

Eligibility Criteria:

• UCFB final year student (or graduated within the last year)

For elite athletes who have competed or are currently competing at an elite level, for example national or international level, in any sport.

Scholarship includes:

• 50% reduction in tuition fees

• GIS Sports Kit (worth up to $120)

• Mentorship throughout your degree with GIS Leader

• Tailored athlete support services are also available

Eligibility Criteria:

• Applicants who have competed at an elite level, for example, national or international level, in any sport

This scholarship is for an outstanding applicant to any of GIS’ distance or distance with attendance master’s degrees that is currently engaged with an AAFC member club as an employee, coach, player or volunteer and has a passion for the development of football in Australia.

Scholarship includes:

• 15% reduction in Master’s tuition fees

• Applied research project on an AAFC or AAFC member club challenge 

• Mentorship with an AAFC or GIS senior leader 

• Free access to a GIS Global Sports Summit

Eligibility Criteria:

• Students who have accepted an offer for any of GIS’ distance or distance with attendance master’s degrees, starting in September 2024 

• Australian domiciled 

• Currently engaged with an AAFC member club as an employee, coach, player, volunteer or other capacity

Offered in partnership with the Jason Roberts Foundation, the scholarship programme is open to an outstanding applicant holding an offer for any of GIS Master’s programmes held at our Wembley campus. Candidates should have an interest in football, have the ability to lead, possess experience with outreach work within a community and should be able to demonstrate that they have strived through adversity to achieve a goal.

The recruitment process will address the diversity criteria, ensuring that a range of candidates from socially diverse backgrounds, as well as from groups with other protected characteristics, apply for the programme.

The scholarship students will benefit from a partnership between UCFB/GIS and Jason Roberts Foundation. Recipients of the scholarship will be expected to not only commit themselves to an academically rigorous programme of study but also become involved in some of the activities and programmes carried out by the Jason Roberts Foundation.

Scholarship Value:

 FT: £1,500 (£1,000 tuition fees + £500 towards sports industry events and costs associated with involvement in projects with Jason Roberts Foundation.

PT: £1,500 (the tuition fee value of the scholarship will be divided into two years of study).

Offered in partnership with She Kicks Magazine, Women’s Football Magazine, this scholarship is open to an outstanding female applicant who can demonstrate that a UCFB degree can assist them with their career ambitions. Applicants will be selected based on their academic profile or extra-curricular activities such as community engagement or volunteering. Previous experience in football or sport is not necessary, just a commitment and drive towards working in the world of football and sports business and a belief that a career in football and sport is open to people of all genders and backgrounds.

The She Kicks scholarship will be awarded in the form of an internship at She Kicks magazine or a partner organisation, with all travel and accommodation expenses covered up to a maximum value of £2,000. Additionally, as a part of this scholarship package, the student will receive a UCFB sports kit (value of up to £100) from the overall scholarship award.

Previous interns had the opportunity to spend a week at the 2019 Women’s World Cup in France, working alongside She Kicks at the fan embassies based in Nice and Valenciennes. They also had an opportunity to work with She Kicks editor Jen O’Neill on the Women’s FA Cup Final with access to the media suite at Wembley Stadium.

This scholarship is open to all degrees but may particularly suit students on Football Business & Media, Multimedia Sports Journalism and Sports Business & Sports Broadcasting degrees.

This first-of-its-kind scholarship is for new postgraduate students of a South Asian heritage who have a passion for increasing participation and representation of South Asians within football.

• Mentorship with Dev Trehan, Sky Sports News journalist and British South Asians in football pioneer

• Free access to The Inclusive Leadership in Football Award, our industry leading professional qualification delivered in partnership with Kick it Out

Eligibility Criteria:

• Applicants must demonstrate passion for and commitment to increasing participation and representation of South Asians within Football

• Applicants should have accepted an offer on a GIS Master’s programme for September 2024 intake by the scholarship application deadline of 1^st July 2024.

UCFB offers an excellent environment to develop in sport whilst studying for a degree. This scholarship is awarded to 2 students to acknowledge the sporting achievements of applicants who have competed in any sport within the past two years, within their relevant age group.

Some of the previous years’ awardees include Elliot - Ultimate Frisbee athlete who competed at the European Youth Ultimate Championships, Adam – Level 5 referee and member of Refereeing excellence programme, Haaris – Semi Professional squash player competing regionally across the UK and Sean – talented footballer who represents Manchester City and England amputee teams. This scholarship is inclusive to all athletes with all backgrounds and dis/abilities.

Each scholarship is an award in the value of up to £1,000 which includes UCFB sports kit and travel support for training, competitions and events as well as development opportunities.

This scholarship is awarded to 3 promising students from under-represented demographics in football and sport who can demonstrate that their choice of a UCFB degree will benefit them in their career ambitions. The scholarship is aimed at helping to encourage the next generation of studentsand industry professionals through developing their skills and supporting them on their work placements and internships.

The Coaching Mentoring Programme offers students individual learning support to gain bespoke experience in the football and sports industry, including coaching, working with teams and sports development depending on the student’s interests. The aim is to actively engage and guide the students in acquiring new knowledge, ideas, advice and feedback offered by the assigned mentors and coaches.

UCFB Access to Coaching Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to 1 student to increase representation of people from a diverse range of backgrounds in the football and sports industry and encourage an environment where everyone can achieve a sense of belonging and pursue their goals. Applicants will be asked todemonstrate understanding of equality and contributions to inclusion initiatives.

Applicants should be students who identify as a member of a historically underrepresented community in higher education or sport including those identifying as females, belonging to Global Ethnic Majority (diverse background), socio-economically disadvantaged group, a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, dis/abled, and/or have a background or experience that would otherwise contribute to the diversity of the sports industry. This scholarship is open to all degrees.

The South Asians in Football Leadership Scholarship for 2024-2025 is the first of its kind, as UCFB and aims to promote and support the growth of British South Asians in football. The Scholarship aims to directly tackle the lack of participation in sports for British South Asians.

Eligibility Criteria

• Students enrolling on ANY full-time UCFB Undergraduate course

• Identify as a member of the British South Asian community

This scholarship is open to 2 outstanding female applicants who are eager to develop a career in the sports industry. Candidates should have an interest in football and the wider sport industry, the ability to set clear goals and have the drive to achieve them. The Scholarship will be an award of £1,000.
