Scholarships at University of Kent

£1,000 per year, for up to three years of a student's course.

Criteria

To be eligible to apply, students need to be: 

• A resident of Kent at the time they apply for the scholarship. Any applications made by students who are already studying outside of the county will not be considered.

• Aged 18 to 25 when they commence study on the course.

• Students must be about to start the first year of their course.

• Studying for a full-time college or university degree based course.

• Applications will be considered in any field studied in the following areas.

  • Agriculture – arable and livestock

  • Horticulture

  • Forestry

  • Equine

  • Veterinary and Animal Management

Deadline

31 July 2026, 23:59 BST for September 2026 entry (please note, this is the deadline to be offered a place on the programme and to accept your offer – applications to the Kent course should be submitted several weeks prior to this deadline, to allow for the admission process to be completed). You do not need to make a separate application for the scholarship – the first 25 eligible applicants meeting this deadline will be considered.  

Undergraduate

International applicants who receive and accept an offer for a Kent undergraduate programme starting in September 2026 or January 2027, could receive the Kent International Scholarship (UG) of £5,000 (subject to the eligibility criteria). You can check your eligibility on the scholarship webpage.

The scholarship will be applied as a tuition fee waiver.

• £3,000 will be applied as a tuition fee waiver in the first stage of your degree
• £2,000 will be applied as a tuition fee waiver when you progress to the second stage of your degree.   
• If you are studying with us for just one year, you will receive the £3,000 tuition fee waiver only  

Postgraduate Taught

If you receive and accept an offer for a Kent Taught Masters starting in September 2026 or January 2027, you could qualify for our Kent International Scholarships, worth up to £5,000, guaranteed for all applicants who meet the eligibility criteria.

To be eligible, you need to be domiciled in Bangladesh, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey or Vietnam.

You do not need to make an application, the award will be added to your application once you have accepted your offer, although please allow a few weeks to receive your scholarship offer.

£1,000 awarded each year to talented instrumentalists and singers studying for any degree at the University of Kent

Criteria

Music Scholarships/Awards are intended to recognise and encourage excellence. Applicants would usually be expected to demonstrate some or all of the following criteria when submitting their written application:

• An advanced ABRSM grade (or equivalent, including RockSchool, Trinity or other international musical qualifications)

• A significant musical profile whilst in school / college / university or the local community

• Appropriate performing experience at county or national level / conservatoire, e.g. youth choir, county orchestra, wind band, jazz or big band

• Experience in giving public performances, e.g. gigs or solo recitals, major role in musical theatre productions

Scholarship recipients must be prepared to represent the University and to contribute to the cultural life of the University by participating in selected activities and events as designated by the Director of Music. Candidates must also be willing to act as ambassadors for the University and to agree to be featured in the University publications and press releases.

Sanctuary Scholarships

The University of Kent, in partnership with the Article 26 Project, offers up to five Sanctuary Scholarships for undergraduates entry each academic year. The Sanctuary Scholarship offers a comprehensive package of support to help students seeking asylum in the UK access higher education.

• Tuition fees waived for the duration of your programme of study, or until you are able to access other Student Finance funding. 

• Financial support in the form of a single bursary payment of £2,000 at the start of each academic year, to help with costs such as travel and course materials. This payment does not need to be repaid. 

• Dedicated staff support from Student Support and Wellbeing. A Senior Welfare Adviser will meet regularly with all Sanctuary Scholars to provide pastoral support and  guidance throughout their academic journey. 

• Additional funding opportunities through a ringfenced fund available to Sanctuary Scholars to cover further short term costs. 

• Complimentary Gulbenkian Membership, giving access to the University of Kent’s Arts Centre, which includes a cinema, theatre, concert hall, and café/bar. 

• Unlimited bus travel with a South East Student Rider pass, provided in partnership with Stagecoach South East.
