We are offering a generous Masters scholarship for international students, to ensure that concerns about finance do not present a barrier to students from a selection of countries considering study at the University.
What is the Global Masters Scholarship?
This award (value to be confirmed shortly) is available to all international students from a selection of countries who are seeking to study a taught Masters degree at Birmingham in the 2023/24 academic year. Eligible scholars who successfully meet the criteria will have this amount deducted from their total tuition fees owed.
Who is eligible for a Global Masters Scholarship?
In order to be eligible, candidates must meet the following requirements. You must:
Have applied for, and receive an offer of admission for, a taught Masters degree at the University of Birmingham UK campus, to study in the 2023/24 academic year.
Be classed as ‘domiciled’ in one of the selected countries. Please see the list below.
Be classed by the University as an overseas fee payer for tuition fee purposes.
Start your studies at the University in September/ October 2023 on a full-time course delivered at the University's UK campus.
Are there any programmes not eligible?
If you decide to defer your programme start date to September 2024, you will no longer be eligible as the scholarship is only available for programmes starting in September 2023.
Students seeking to study on a course solely delivered as a ‘distance learning’ programme are not eligible for this scholarship.
Students applying for programmes in the Birmingham Business School are not eligible for this scholarship but are eligible for other separate MSc and MBA scholarships offered by the Business School.
Undergraduate degree programmes including the MBChB, MEng, MSci and MPharm undergraduate programmes are not eligible.
Students studying the University of Birmingham Dubai campus are not eligible for this scholarship.

If you are permanently domiciled in Africa, Birmingham Business School is offering scholarships of up to 40% of your tuition fee. Awards will be made on the basis of academic excellence as assessed from your course application.
Engineering International Achievement Scholarship, for international undergraduate School of Engineering students, enables you to be recognised and rewarded for your excellent academic achievements before arriving as a student at the University of Birmingham.
The Engineering International Achievement Scholarship consists of £1500 fee waiver during year 1 semester 1 for all students who meet the criteria below.
To be eligible for this award you must:
Obtain the following results or equivalent in other qualification systems*
A Levels: AAB to include mathematics for incoming BEng students. AAA to include mathematics for incoming MEng students
IB: 6, 6, 5 from Higher Levels
HKDSE: 5, 5, 4
Indian Standard XII: Overall: 80% ISC, CBSE, Maharashtra; or 75% West Bengal; or 85% Other State board
Malaysia - One of the following:
STPM: Grades equivalent to A level grades above
UEC: Overall grade A2
Malaysian Ministry of Education Matriculation programme: Students with a GPA above 3.0 will be considered
Fees must not wholly be paid by a sponsoring body
Be classified as International for fees on your acceptance to the university.
Be accepted to one of the following courses for year 1 entry in 2024 after placing it as firm choice in UCAS

Engineering International Excellence Scholarship, for international undergraduate School of Engineering students, enables you to be recognised and rewarded for your excellent academic achievements before arriving as a student at the University of Birmingham.
The Engineering International Excellence Scholarship consists of £3000 fee waiver during year 1 semester 1 for all students who meet the criteria below.
To be eligible for this award you must:
Obtain the following results or equivalent in other qualification systems*
A Levels: A*AA with an A in mathematics
IB: 7, 6, 6 from Higher Levels
HKDSE: 5*, 5, 5
Indian Standard XII: A* subjects: 90% ISC, CBSE, Maharashtra; or 85% West Bengal, 95% Other State boards Plus Overall: 85% ISC, CBSE, Maharashtra; or 80% West Bengal; or 90% Other State board
Malaysia - One of the following:

Students can renew under the Engineering International Achievement Scholarship after completion of year 1 if they meet the following criteria. Students must:
Achieve 70%-year average at the first attempt in your previous year of study.
