The University of Edinburgh Business School is offering up to 25 scholarships covering part of the fees for Masters students commencing study in September 2024. The Dean's Excellence Scholarship Programme is based on merit and available to all applicants of Business School taught Masters.

Scholarship Criteria

Dean's Excellence Scholarships will be awarded to candidates who:

• Can demonstrate strong academic performance – on track to obtain or have graduated with a minimum of a high 2.1 or 1st class UK undergraduate degree or overseas equivalent from a university with a strong academic reputation and ranking.

• Have the potential to contribute and enrich all aspects of the Masters programme and the diverse academic and cultural profile of the Masters class.

• Show excellent professional and personal skills evidenced through work experience and/or extracurricular activities.

Eligibility

You can only apply for the scholarship once you have received an offer (conditional or unconditional) to join one of the eligible programmes and have either firmly accepted the offer or be intending to do so. The scholarship selection panel can only consider your application if you hold an active offer throughout your scholarship application process (meaning if your offer is declined at any point up until the scholarship decision deadline you will no longer be eligible). You can apply to the scholarship only once per admissions cycle.

You will not be eligible for this scholarship if:

• You are fully sponsored by your employer.

• You are in receipt of a full scholarship.

• You have already accepted another scholarship from the University of Edinburgh Business School.

The Business School will offer a number of Achievement Scholarships, each with a value of £5,000, to candidates who can demonstrate successful prior achievement in contributing to the improvement of a business, social or public organisation.

Achievement scholarships will be awarded to candidates who can demonstrate successful prior achievement in contributing to the improvement of a business, social, or public organisation.

Examples of achievements could be:

• Introducing an innovation.

• Setting up a new enterprise.

• Managing a successful project.

• Achieving a change in behaviour.

• Introducing sustainable solutions.

If the applicant is successful in being awarded a scholarship, but subsequently declines their offer of admission to the MBA, the scholarship will be withdrawn and awarded to another applicant. An award will be withdrawn if a student fails to meet the conditions set by the University.

Conditions

• The scholarship will be deducted from tuition fees.

• Scholarships will have to be accepted within a certain timeframe in order to secure your position on the MBA programme and also to secure the scholarship funding.

• If you do not accept and pay the required MBA programme deposit within the given timeframe then you will forfeit your scholarship offer. The Business School will then re-allocate this scholarship.

• If you receive a scholarship, you will be expected to participate occasionally as an ambassador for the Business School during and after your programme.

• Successful applicants enrolled on the Executive MBA will receive half the amount of the scholarship awarded in each of the two years of the programme.

The Business School will offer a number of Diversity Scholarships, each with a value of £5,000, to candidates who enhance the diversity of cultures or perspectives on the Edinburgh MBA.

Diversity scholarships will be awarded to candidates who, while bringing strong academic and work experience credentials, also enhance the diversity of cultures or perspectives on the Edinburgh MBA or EMBA.

Eligibility

You can only apply for a scholarship once you have received an offer (conditional or unconditional) to join one of the eligible programmes and have either firmly accepted the offer or be intending to do so. The scholarship selection panel can only consider your application if you hold an active offer throughout your scholarship application process (meaning if your offer is declined at any point up until the scholarship decision deadline you will no longer be eligible).

Leadership Scholarships will be awarded to candidates who:

• can demonstrate strong leadership experience or potential.

• have sound academic credentials.

• who have substantive work experience, normally of at least seven years.

This year, in partnership with the British Council and the GREAT Britain Campaign, the University of Edinburgh Business School will be offering two GREAT scholarships to the value of £10,000 for Masters students commencing study in September 2024.

GREAT Scholarships 2024, launched by the British Council's Study UK campaign together with a number of other UK universities, supports students from 18 countries to access world-class UK higher education opportunities. The Study UK campaign is offering 150 scholarships from UK universities to students across 18 countries around the world.

The scholarship programme offers financial support of £10,000 to students pursuing one year postgraduate study in the UK. Students can apply for courses in a range of subjects at the 41 institutions across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Value

Each scholarship will award an amount of £10,000 which will be deducted from your tuition fees and will be tenable for the academic year 2024/25.

Eligibility

These scholarships will be awarded to Nationals of Turkey and Vietnam who are accepted for admission on one of the following programmes for the 2024/5 academic session.

The Business School will offer up to 10 Online MBA Diversity Scholarships, the value ranging between £2,500 and £10,000, to candidates who enhance the diversity of cultures or perspectives on the Edinburgh MBA.

Scholarship criteria

The Online MBA Diversity Scholarships will be awarded to candidates who:

• Have sound academic and excellent work experience credentials.

• Have the potential to contribute to and enrich all aspects of the Online MBA.

• Can demonstrate how they have provided a supportive, inclusive environment, and/or built a culture of belonging by actively inviting contributions and participations of all people, for example in projects, group work, events, and so on.

• Can tell us how they will use the knowledge gained from the Online MBA programme, and how this will enable them to continue to have an impact as a leader, especially in terms of inclusivity and responsibility.

Eligibility

Eligible programmes are:

• Online MBA.

You will not be eligible for this scholarship if:

• You are fully sponsored by your employer.

• You are in receipt of a full scholarship.

Conditions

• The scholarship will be paid directly towards your tuition fees in two instalments, one in year 1 and one in year 2

• Scholarships have to be accepted by the deadline defined in the scholarship award letter.

• If you do not accept and pay the required programme deposit within the given time frame then you will forfeit your scholarship offer as well as your programme offer. The Business School will then re-allocate this scholarship.

• Any scholarship is automatically withdrawn if you decline your programme offer or fail to meet the conditions set out in your programme offer letter.

• Only one University of Edinburgh Business School scholarship can be accepted.

• If you are in receipt of any other University of Edinburgh scholarship(s) then the maximum that will be covered between all the scholarships awarded will be the full fees.

• Scholarships are not transferable and not deferrable. They are valid only for use by the scholarship awardee for the entry date specified as part of their application in the given academic year If you receive a scholarship, you will be expected to participate occasionally as an ambassador for the Business School during and after your programme.

• Scholarship decisions are at the discretion of the School and all decisions are final.

• If you withdraw at any point during the teaching term, scholarship payments which have already been made will be reclaimed on a pro-rata basis. Under exceptional circumstances, this decision can be reviewed by the Director of Professional Services.

The Business School will offer two LGBT+ scholarships to the value of £10,000 for entry onto one of our taught Masters degrees for entry 2024/25. The scholarships will be awarded to candidates who are committed to making a difference to the LGBT+ community, especially within the business environment.

Scholarship Criteria

The LGBT+ Scholarship will be awarded to candidates who:

• Can demonstrate their commitment to the LGBT+ community through previous action and support either within the business setting specifically, or in a wider sense through LGBT+ action.

• Continue to aspire to make a difference for the LGBT+ community through their future personal and career goals

• Have sound academic credentials.

Eligibility

In addition, Somewhere (a social enterprise whose mission is to increase the visibility and representation of the LGBT+ community in business) will offer the successful candidate mentoring.

MBA LGBT+ Scholarships will be awarded to a candidate who:

• Can demonstrate their commitment to the LGBT+ community through previous action and support either within the business setting specifically or in a wider sense through LGBT+ action.
