Scholarships at University of Hull

If you progress from studying an undergraduate degree at the University of Hull to an eligible taught master's degree in 2025/26 we'll give you a 20% discount on the cost of your tuition fees. This is also available to alumni who studied for an undergraduate degree at the University of Hull in previous years and would like to return to study. 

Eligibility

You may be eligible for the award if you have an undergraduate degree from a previous and separate programme at the University of Hull (includes ‘top-up’ degree awards and validated degrees), or if you are an exchange student wishing to continue your studies in the 2025/26 academic year. York-registered MBBS students are also eligible for the Alumni Postgraduate Scholarship if they wish to continue on to an eligible University of Hull taught postgraduate course.

The award is available for University of Hull postgraduate taught master's degree programmes, for example MA or MSc qualifications (excludes postgraduate certificates/diplomas, PGCE, pre-registration healthcare courses such as MSc Midwifery and MSc Nutrition and Dietetics, MBA, and Masters Foundation programmes). Students undertaking research programmes are not eligible. 

The University of Hull has a long history of participating in the China Scholarship Council (CSC) scheme, which provides funding to Chinese nationals for a range of PhD programmes. We are also an official CSC partner.

The CSC PhD scholarship programme enables talented Chinese students to undertake a PhD programme at the University of Hull, building on Hull’s strong relationship with China. There are 10 full scholarships per year available for students to start a PhD. Students can apply for a PhD in any subject area.

If you are successful in your application for the CSC scholarship, you will receive the following funding:

• The University of Hull will cover 100% of tuition fees during your PhD study, which is three years in length.

• You may enter a writing-up period at the end of the three years. The University of Hull will cover the fees during this period, but your scholarship from CSC will not usually cover you during the writing-up year (4th year).

• The China Scholarship Council will provide living allowance for three years, a return international airfare between China and the UK and funding to cover passport and visa fees.

Award

A 50% tuition fee scholarship for all years of your undergraduate study at the University of Hull is available to 10 successful applicants.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Fairer Future Global Scholarship, all applicants must:

• Have received an offer of study for an undergraduate course at the University of Hull.

• Have not previously studied in the UK at degree level.

• Be classified as an international student for fee paying purposes.

• Not be in receipt of financial sponsorship from a government or commercial sponsorship body.

• Have completed a Fairer Future Global Scholarship application form.

• Have submitted a reference for the purposes of scholarship selection from a teacher or counsellor from your high school.

Scholarship applications must be submitted before the closing date of 31 May 2025 at midnight.

In partnership with the British Council and the GREAT Britain Campaign, the University of Hull is offering 6 scholarships to students in Bangladesh, India Indonesia, Mexico, Thailand and Turkey applying for postgraduate courses in September 2025.

The GREAT Scholarships 2025 programme, launched by the British Council together with 72 UK universities, supports postgraduate students from Bangladesh, China, Egypt, France, Ghana, Greece, India, Indonesia, Italy, Kenya, Malaysia, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Spain, Thailand, Turkey and Vietnam to access world-class UK higher education opportunities.

The scholarship programme offers financial support of a minimum of £10,000 to students pursuing one-year postgraduate study in the UK. Students can apply for courses in a range of subjects, at the 72 institutions across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Please note that applicants should be passport holders and residents of Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Thailand or Turkey in order to be eligible for this programme.

The University of Hull, in partnership with the British Council, will be awarding the University of Hull – GREAT Scholarship 2025 – Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Thailand and Turkey. This award is for nationals of the previously listed countries who are interested in studying a full-time, postgraduate taught programme starting in September 2025.

Scholarships

The University of Hull is offering scholarships for students beginning a full-time, postgraduate taught programme starting in September 2025.

One successful applicant in each of the categories listed below will receive an award of £10,000 (GBP) in the form of a tuition fee reduction.

• 1 x Bangladeshi student studying any full-time, Hull-based postgraduate taught programme.

• 1 x Indian student studying any full-time, Hull-based postgraduate taught programme.

• 1 x Indonesian student studying any full-time, Hull-based postgraduate taught programme.

• 1 x Mexican student studying any full-time, Hull-based postgraduate taught programme.

• 1 x Thai student studying any full-time, Hull-based postgraduate taught programme.

• 1 x Turkish student studying any full-time, Hull-based postgraduate taught programme.

Successful applicants will be required to pay a £4,000 tuition fee deposit to secure their place on their programme.

Eligibility

To be eligible for a University of Hull – GREAT Scholarship 2025 - all applicants must:

• Be a passport holder and resident of one of the respective countries included within this scholarship.

• Have received an offer of study for a postgraduate taught degree programme at the University of Hull.

• Have achieved, or be working towards, a 2:1 degree or equivalent in their undergraduate programme recognised by the University of Hull.

• Have achieved an IELTS of at least 6.5 overall, with 5.5 in each skill or equivalent before the application deadline.

• Have not previously studied in the UK.

• Have completed a University of Hull – GREAT Scholarship 2025 application form and have answered the following questions (maximum of 250-words per question):

  • What skills and knowledge have you gained to date and how will they help you to achieve success in your chosen field of study?

  • How does the course you have applied for at the University of Hull fit with your interests and future plans, and how will the qualification enhance your career?

  • What extra-curricular activities have you engaged in and how has this contributed to your personal development?

  • How will the knowledge and leadership skills you acquire as a student of the University of Hull enhance the development of your country?

The deadline to apply for the scholarship is 31 May 2025 at midnight.

Marshall Scholars embody the UK and USA’s special relationship, and are chosen for their academic ability, leadership and ambassadorial potential.

Marshall Scholarships are mainly funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and are overseen by the Marshall Aid Commemoration Commission. Through the University of Hull and Marshall Aid Commemoration Commission’s agreement there is one award available for Marshall Scholars planning to study a graduate degree programme. This award covers tuition fees, maintenance and travel costs.

Eligibility

• The Marshall Scholar must have been selected by the Marshall Aid Commemoration Commission Committees to study at the University of Hull.

• The Marshall Scholar is planning to study a one-year taught masters or one-year masters by research programme (MRes) in any subject offered at the University of Hull.

• The Marshall Scholar is accepted at the University of Hull through the usual admissions process.
