Coventry University is a campus university in the midlands and has established a trend for constant modernisation since gaining university status in 1992. Coventry University was awarded 'Modern University of the Year’ in the Times and Sunday Times University Guide 2015.
A new location was opened in London to host Business and MBA programmes recently, while the main campus in Coventry is in the midst of a £150 million investment scheme which has already created a new library amongst other student facilities.
Coventry University is also building up its portfolio of courses. It was the first in the UK to offer unique degrees such as disaster management and ethical hacking, while forensic chemistry and other specialist skills have made their way on to the course list. The University has a strong focus on future employment, which is encouraged by the Start Up Cafe which encourages networking with local businesses.
There are currently over 5,000 international students from more than 130 countries at Coventry and the International Office team is on hand to handle enquiries, make admissions decisions on your applications and support you throughout the process. The team is made up of eight multi-lingual staff, many of whom have experiences of living and studying abroad.
The International Office organises pickups from nearby airports and runs a Welcome Week for new students. Experts on immigration and welfare are also available.
The Times and Guardian awarded Coventry with the Modern University of the Year’ award in 2015 and the University was ranked within the top 800 universities in the world for the first time in 2014. The Guardian highlighted strengths in Mathematics, Business and Management Studies, Modern Languages and Communications and Media.
Following the 2014 Research Excellence Framework, 61% of the submitted work was classed as 4* or 3*, up from 27% in 2008.
There is a wide variety of student accommodation in Coventry with a choice of University owned and managed halls and houses, private halls, houses and flats.
Coventry offers four university-owned halls of residence, one en-suite with two others catered and another independent hall, as well as numerous university-owned houses within and around Coventry. These houses are generally within a few minutes’ walk from the main campus, and range in size from four to thirty-six bedrooms.
Famous for its place in history as the home of the motor industry, Coventry is situated in the heart of the UK. Major regeneration has been undertaken in recent years as modern urban spaces now sit seamlessly amongst medieval architecture and independent shops, pubs and bars.
The University occupies a mixture of new buildings (such as the award-winning Hub) and conversions, such as the William Morris Building, which was originally built at the beginning of the 20th Century as a factory. Coventry is the 11th largest city in United Kingdom and is located 30km from Birmingham, and 154km from London.
My counsellor contacted me every day throughout the application process and helped me receive an unconditional offer. I am so grateful to SI-UK and will never forget them. I will study very hard as I feel this is the best reward I can give the whole team.
