Overview

Sheffield Hallam University is one of the largest and most popular universities in the UK, with over 34,000 students from more than 100 countries enrolled. It is also regarded as one of the best modern universities in the north of England and has eight subjects ranked in the top 20 in the UK (The Times and Sunday Times University League Table 2015).

Sheffield Hallam's courses are designed in consultation with industry experts and offer opportunities to undertake internships and consultancy projects. Many courses are accredited by professional bodies including Sony, BP, Cisco, BBC, Shell and HSBC. These often offer a direct route to professional accreditation or membership of that body.

93% of graduates are in employment or further study within six months of graduation, while a package of discounts and scholarships for undergraduate and postgraduate students are also available.

Services for International Students

Sheffield Hallam is among the best universities in the UK for international student support, and a dedicated International Student support team can help with pre-arrival support, visa advice, free airport pick-up service, study and welfare support, and activities for you to enjoy. These include day trips to cities such as Manchester and York, visits to the British seaside, museums and stately homes, and fun activities like ice skating. There are also opportunities for you to meet local people and experience British culture.

Ranking

Sheffield Hallam is ranked in the top 20 in the UK for Building, Physiotherapy, Social Policy, Hospitality, Tourism and Events, Materials Technology, Radiotherapy, Food Science and Land and Property Management subjects. The University also scores highly for student satisfaction and ranked first in the UK for international student support, accommodation cost, employability and careers advice and opportunities to earn money whilst studying.

Following the 2014 Research Excellence Framework, Sheffield Hallam, 65% of submitted work was classed as ‘world leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’ and the University moved up 25 places in the national league tables.

Accommodation

The University's Accommodation Services team are committed to helping you find accommodation that suits your needs and budget. All housing is within easy walking distance of the campuses and city centre, providing security, comfort and excellent value for money. Halls are self-catered residences, managed by landlords in partnership with the University.

Location

Sheffield Hallam has two campuses, the City Campus in the city centre near the train and bus station, shops, cafes, restaurants, banks, theatres, museums and galleries and the Collegiate Campus near the city's parks with shops, cafes, restaurants and supermarkets close by. Many students choose to live in the area, and it is only a 20 minute walk from the city centre.

Sheffield is a welcoming, friendly and vibrant city in the north of England. It is the fifth largest city in England and is one of the safest and most affordable cities in the country. Located in the centre of the UK, it is over two hours from London and one hour from Manchester by train. Sheffield is also one of the greenest cities in the Europe with woodlands and parks, and is surrounded by the Peak District National Park.

Breckett Front My counsellor contacted me every day throughout the application process and helped me receive an unconditional offer. I am so grateful to SI-UK and will never forget them. I will study very hard as I feel this is the best reward I can give the whole team.
