Join University College Dublin professors, students and staff to discuss UCD’s sustainability programmes, and see how they lead to careers that also help the planet. Hiring for green jobs in Ireland has more than doubled since 2016, and the Government estimates the Irish economy will need to fill more than 20,000 jobs by 2030 just to support leading green economy sectors.

University College Dublin, Ireland’s Global University, is Ireland’s largest international university and a top 1% world university.  Established in 1854, the university has a student body of over 38,000 students with more than 10,000 international students drawn from 144 countries. UCD is Ireland's leader in graduate education, with over 12,000 graduate students; and more than 2,000 graduate research students. Located in Dublin, Ireland, hailed as one of the safest countries in the world and one of the friendliest cities in Europe.

The QS World University Rankings for Sustainability placed UCD in the top 50 in the world for 2024, achieving the highest result in Ireland. Students are attracted to UCD by the university’s strength of teaching and research. Another huge draw for international students is the programme portfolio - UCD offers Ireland’s widest range of programmes recognised and valued by academic institutions and employers worldwide.

Why should I go?
This webinar led by UCD Professors, students and staff, will explore UCD programmes relating to Sustainability subject matter. The programmes discussed will be:

- MSc Environmental Policy
The UCD MSc in Environmental Policy arms graduates with the capacity to develop environmental policy choices, analyse them critically, and to guide regarding their implementation and evaluation. The programme introduces graduates to research-based economic and environmental tools and insights to enable graduates to be effective change management leaders and management leaders and environmental and sustainability experts in both the public and private sectors.

- MSc in Sustainable Finance
The MSc in Sustainable Finance (formerly called the MSc in Renewable Energy & Environmental Finance) is designed to provide students with real-world insights into the application of finance in achieving sustainable outcomes for corporations, and the process of investing, financing, and building renewable energy projects.

- MSc Risk, Resilience & Sustainability
Risk, Resilience and Sustainability are three keywords of our time. A deeper understanding of risk, how it is generated, experienced and managed is fundamental to addressing many of our pressing societal issues. Concepts such as ‘critical infrastructure’ underpin government initiatives to prepare, and manage, global challenges such as climate change, natural disasters, ecological uncertainty, and extreme social inequity. The concept of sustainability is heavily enshrined in the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which have been widely taken up as a road map for future development around the world. The key objective of the course is to explore how sustainability and resilience work together in the safeguarding of ecosystem services, the economy, construction, transportation and political systems.
