Scholarships at Manchester Metropolitan University

Aimed at: Undergraduate students from outside the UK, who will pay full overseas tuition fees.

Value: £2,000 for each year of your degree.

Terms and Conditions

• Applicants must hold an offer for a full-time, taught undergraduate degree programme at Manchester Metropolitan University, and begin their studies in September 2023.

• Part-time programmes are eligible and the award. The scholarship will be awarded on a pro-rata basis in proportion to the tuition fees charged which means you will receive a proportion of the scholarship in each year of your course.

• The following programmes are eligible:

  • 3-year Bachelor’s degree

  • 4-year Bachelor’s degree, including an integrated study abroad or placement year (Scholarship is not payable for the year spent on study abroad or placement)

  • 4-year Bachelor’s degree, including an integrated foundation year programme 

  • 4-year integrated Master’s degree

• Students with advanced standing and joining a degree programme at level 5 or 6 are eligible, providing all course and applicant-related terms and conditions are met.

• One-year top-up degree courses are eligible for the Scholarship, as long as all course and applicantrelated terms and conditions are met.

• Only courses being taught on the Manchester Campus, are eligible.

• Applicants must be self-funding and classified as overseas students for tuition fee purposes.

• Scholarships are only available for new undergraduate Manchester Metropolitan University students, current students moving from one course to another are not eligible.

• Applicants must successfully meet any conditions set for entry onto the programme.

Eligibility: 

You must have been accepted onto a full-time taught masters degree course starting in January or September 2023.

Value: 

£3,000 in the first year of study.

Applicant and course eligibility criteria

• Applicants must hold an offer for a taught Master's course (180 credits) at Manchester Metropolitan
  University.

• This offer is only available for programmes commencing in September 2023 or January 2024.

• The Scholarship offer will only be applied to postgraduate programmes consisting of a minimum of 180
  credits.

• MFA courses are eligible, providing the full 180 credits are taken in year one, and the full overseas fee is charged.

• Eligible applicants will be awarded a £3,000 Scholarship.

• Students studying part-time will be eligible for the Scholarship providing they are paying overseas fees. The scholarship will be awarded on a pro-rata basis in proportion to the tuition fees charged which means you will receive a proportion of the scholarship in each year of your course.

• International qualifications will be compared with Manchester Metropolitan University’s internal guidelines and all decisions made by the University’s Admissions Department regarding degree classifications are final and cannot be appealed.

• Only courses being taught on the Manchester Campus, are eligible.

• Applicants must be self-funding and classified as overseas students for tuition fee purposes

• Applicants must successfully meet all conditions set for entry onto their chosen course of study.

Our sport scholarships are awarded on a case by case basis, with priority given to individuals whose sport features within the British Universities & Colleges Sport BUCS programme. The amount offered will be determined by the University’s Sport Scholarship committee and each case is considered on its own merit.

Manchester Met alumni who commence a taught postgraduate qualification with us in academic year 2023/24 may be eligible for a 20% discount on course fees.

Eligibility

The Alumni Loyalty Discount is open to former students who have successfully completed one of the following courses at Manchester Metropolitan University:

• Undergraduate/postgraduate taught degree (excluding HND)

• Foundation Degree

• PGCE

• GDL

And who meet the requirements for entry to a postgraduate taught course at Manchester Metropolitan University in academic year 2023/24.

Current students who started a qualifying postgraduate taught course prior to academic year 2022/23 will remain eligible for the 10% Alumni discount.

Terms and Conditionbs

• Full course fees are displayed during online enrolment. Discounts will be applied once your invoice has been processed.

• Eligible alumni receive a 20% discount (not applicable to commercial contracts) on their taught postgraduate tuition fees when they commence one of our eligible full-time or part-time postgraduate taught courses in academic year 2023/24.

• All discounts are reviewed on an annual basis and may change or be removed for future years.  Students commencing a course of more than one academic year’s duration may continue to receive a discount each year (which will be in line with the value of the scheme applicable for the academic year they started their course) provided the course is completed in the original agreed timeframe.

• To receive the discount, you will be a graduate of an eligible Manchester Metropolitan University degree programme and applied to an eligible taught Master’s programme at Manchester Metropolitan University (see Eligibility tab).

• The Alumni Loyalty Discount award is not applicable to PGCE, MArch, Integrated undergraduate masters degrees including MChem and MEng, and a small number of other specific courses.

• Manchester Metropolitan University externally enrolled students will be eligible if they graduated with a Manchester Metropolitan University undergraduate degree.

• Discounts will be awarded both to self-funding students (based on the amount payable by the student) and external sponsors (based on the amount payable by the external sponsor) only (excluding Government/NHS agencies grants and bursaries).

Aimed at: 

Exceptional international students, with offers for courses in selected subject areas, who will pay full overseas tuition fees. 

Applicant Eligibility: 

You must be a self-funding student, with a strong academic background, and have been offered a place on an eligible course.

Selected courses only.

Value: 

Between £6,000 and £8000, in the first year of study. 

This scholarship was established to enable undergraduate students achieve their academic ambitions at Manchester Metropolitan.

About Neelam

Inclusion for every person and child, irrespective of their culture or background, was Neelam’s aim throughout her working life.

The translation work she engaged in for Manchester City Council Education Department over six years enabled many people to access education and other services.

Neelam graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University and taught for many years in a large multi-cultural school working with children and families for whom English was their second language. She encouraged every child to develop their individual strengths and gifts so that they could achieve their maximum potential and celebrate all their successes.

Her invaluable translation skill encouraged parents to be involved in their children’s education and participate in the activities of the school. This in turn helped the whole school and their local community to foster a culture of respect for different cultures and to promote the value of diversity.

Neelam generously shared her special skills and beliefs by mentoring newly qualified staff. Her legacy has been to enable the school to have a staff that continues to provide opportunities for its children to learn about, and accept, individual differences, yet embrace the similarities of all.

The Neelam Aggarwal Scholarship was set up in Neelam’s memory so that her belief in the advancement of disadvantaged children and young people could continue.

The Scholarship

The Neelam Aggarwal Scholarship benefits talented students of all ages who, without this support, may not be in the position to study at Manchester Metropolitan University.

One non-repayable scholarship worth £3,750, paid as three annual instalments of £1,250, is awarded each year to a new UK, undergraduate, full-time student in their first year of study, from a household with an income up to and including £42,875 and paying fees of £9,250 per annum.
