Northumbria offers a generous 20% tuition fee discount to students who choose to continue their studies or return to Northumbria to gain a Masters or Postgraduate Research qualification.
If you have graduated with a Full Undergraduate Degree, Masters, or Postgraduate Research qualification from Northumbria University (or Newcastle Polytechnic), you will automatically receive a 20% tuition fee discount (pro-rata if your course is more than one year) on most Masters and Postgraduate Research courses.
This discount applies to Full and Part-Time students (including the Post Graduate Certificate in Education) and is available to students studying at our Newcastle and London campuses or via Distance Learning.
Eligible students also include those who have previously studied at Northumbria in the UK as a Study Abroad or Exchange student, or those who have completed a Northumbria degree outside the UK via a Transnational Education (TNE) partnership, subject to successfully graduating at the level mentioned above.

To be eligible for the Alumni Discount, you must:
Be a UK, EU or International applicant who has achieved a full first degree from Northumbria University or Newcastle Polytechnic. (as defined by the levels published by the Higher Education Statistics Agency - 'HESA')
Provide proof of your previous qualification from Northumbria University or Newcastle Polytechnic.
Be applying to study on a Full Masters or Postgraduate Research course in September 2023 or January 2024
Be a self-funded student ie; not in receipt of any sponsorship
Northumbria University has announced the continuation of the Asylum Seekers Sanctuary Scholarship, for those seeking asylum in the UK.
This opportunity will award three outstanding students with a £1,000 per year contribution towards studies, as well as a full 100% fee waiver for a wide range of eligible Full-Time Undergraduate courses, beginning in September 2023.
Applications will close at 16:00 on Friday 28 April 2023.
Please do not apply if you are living outside of the UK as your application will not be considered.
Terms and Conditions
To be eligible for the Sanctuary Scholarship, you must:
Be currently seeking asylum in the UK, or you must be a dependant, spouse or civil partner* of someone currently seeking asylum in the UK
Be able to provide evidence of your current immigration status
Have received a conditional or unconditional offer on a Full-Time Undergraduate course at Northumbria University, starting in September 2023
Be starting at level four (i.e. the first year of a Full-Time Undergraduate degree)
Meet all the conditions of your course, including English Language competency requirements
Be living in the North East of England (Tyne and Wear, County Durham, Northumberland, Cleveland and North Cumbria) prior to the commencement of study and be able to provide an address
Be unable to access UK student finance (tuition fee loans and/or maintenance loans) by virtue of your immigration status
Important Information
Students selected for the Sanctuary Scholarship will not be eligible for any other Northumbria scholarship or discount during this course of study
The Sanctuary Scholarship is awarded as a 100% tuition fee waiver and a cash sum of £1,000
The cash award will be paid as: 25% in November 2023, 25% in February 2024, and 50% in May 2024 (and at the same time in subsequent academic years) Northumbria University will make a payments through the BACs system and therefore successful applicants will need to provide bank details for payment
Students will receive a 100% tuition fee discount on Full-Time eligible courses studied at Newcastle City Campus and Coach Lane Campus only
Scholarships will be awarded based on the scholarship application form, relevant documentation, and interview - course application forms will not be considered
The Sanctuary Scholarship will be provided for a maximum of three years (including living cost allowance) while the applicant remains eligible and continues to make satisfactory progress on the course of study
If you are successful in being awarded a Sanctuary Scholarship, you must promptly inform Northumbria University if your immigration status changes. This may result in the Sanctuary Scholarship being withdrawn for the next academic year, should access to UK student finance be granted
If you defer your place or cease to be a registered student at the University, the scholarship offer will be withdrawn
Northumbria University reserves the right to withdraw this scheme at any point
The University's decision to award or withdraw a Sanctuary Scholarship is final and cannot be challenged; there is no right of appeal. This does not affect your statutory rights
We are delighted to offer the Northumbria UK International Scholarship,awarding Postgraduate Taught (PGT) students joining in September 2023 or January 2024 with a £2,000 fee discount, simply for choosing to study with us.

Be an International student with ‘Overseas’ or 'EU' fee status
Be currently studying one of the following qualifications within the UK, at a UK based institution:
A Level 6 Undergraduate Degree
Be a self-funded student (not in receipt of any sponsorship)
Be accepted and enrolled on a Full-Time Postgraduate Taught course at the Newcastle Upon Tyne campus, starting in September 2023 or January 2024
