The Leverhulme Trust Arts Scholarships

The Leverhulme Trust has awarded London Film School (LFS) a grant for The Leverhulme Arts Scholarships. These awards will be available for the LFS MA Filmmaking and MA Screenwriting degrees, starting in September 2023 respectively.

The Leverhulme Arts Scholarships are designed for talented UK/EU/EEA MA Filmmaking or MA Screenwriting applicants whose applications have been deemed to have exceeded expectations in at least two of the selection criteria and who would otherwise not be able to study with us without financial assistance. It addresses the School's key goal of ensuring access and widening participation for the current generation of talented students so that they can participate and benefit from the School's culture and its full learning programme, like Michael Mann, Mike Leigh, Roger Pratt, Duncan Jones and many other filmmakers did before them.

LFS aims to encourage greater diversity in the screen industries and welcomes applications from applicants who understand and are likely to contribute to our philosophy and ethos and will benefit from joining LFS. These will include those from under-represented groups, those looking for second opportunities, those already in work, and those looking to develop themselves later in life.

Who Can Apply?

  • Received an unconditional offer for either the LFS MA Filmmaking or MA Screenwriting programme starting in September 2023;

  • UK national, EU national or settled status without any restrictions on the period for which you may stay; and

  • Lived in the UK for 3 years before starting your course OR been living in the EU/EEA for the past 3 years;

  • Ability to demonstrate the need for financial assistance;

  • Evidence of the ability to pay any additional fees, if any (e.g. the MA Filmmaking continuation fee);

  • Evidence that you'll be able to support yourself (and any dependents, if applicable) for the duration of the course.

Breckett Front   My counsellor contacted me every day throughout the application process and helped me receive an unconditional offer. I am so grateful to SI-UK and will never forget them. I will study very hard as I feel this is the best reward I can give the whole team.  Breckett Front
