Scholarships at Ulster University

Open to all new international (non-EU) entrants on the first year of a full-time postgraduate course delivered on one of our Northern Ireland campuses, commencing January 2023 or September 2023.

Value

£2,000 scholarship applied as a discount to your tuition fee.

Eligibility Criteria

1. You must be classified as an international, self-funding student paying the international tuition fee rate to qualify for this award.

2. You must also hold an offer for a full-time, postgraduate programme delivered on one of our campuses in Northern Ireland (Belfast, Coleraine or Magee), commencing in January 2023 or September 2023 and meet any academic and/or English language conditions as stated in your offer letter.

3. Students applying to part-time or eLearning programmes, or to programmes delivered at our branch campuses (London or Birmingham) are not eligible for this award.

4. Please note you are only eligible for one discount or scholarship.

Eligibility Criteria

• You must be classified as an international, self-funding student paying the international tuition fee rate to qualify for this award.

• You must also hold an offer for the International Foundation Programme or the International Foundation Year commencing in September 2023 and meet any academic and/or English language conditions as stated in your offer letter.

• You must ensure that we are in receipt of a £3,000 deposit by Friday 11 August 2023. Please note, depending on your bank, it can take several weeks for your deposit to clear. Please ensure you allow sufficient time for your deposit to be received.

• Students applying to our full-time undergraduate, full-time postgraduate, part-time, eLearning programmes or programmes delivered at our branch campuses (London or Birmingham) are not eligible for this award.

• Please note you are only eligible for one scholarship award.

• Please also note, to avail of the £2,000 accommodation discount students holding an offer for the International Foundation Programme or International Foundation Year must reside in university accommodation at Jordanstown campus or at 123 York Street in the heart of Belfast city centre.

This special scholarship is named in honour of AFL-CIO President Emeritus John J. Sweeney, the son of Irish immigrants, who dedicated his life to advancing the well-being of working people, making outstanding contributions to working people both in the US and internationally which will live on for years to come.

Value

The John J Sweeney Scholarship has a value of $20,000 and that is used towards the Scholar’s tuition fees for an MSc or LLM at Ulster University.

This scholarship is generously supported by funds raised by the AFL-CIO, the American Labor community, business and civic organisations, and individuals.

Any balance remaining may be used to purchase study materials/equipment, support course-related activities and/or in support of the Scholar’s living expenses and travel costs.

Eligibility Criteria

The John J Sweeney Scholarship supports US students enrolled to study full-time on the following MSc or LLM at Ulster University:

• MSc Peace and Conflict Studies

• MSc Social Policy

• LLM Human Rights Law and Transitional Justice

• LLM Gender, Conflict and Human Rights

• LLM Access to Justice

• MSc Construction Management

• MSc Management and Corporate Governance

• MSc Manufacturing Management

• MSc Business Development and Innovation

The Scholarship will be open to all US citizens who:

• Have been offered a full-time place on one of the above MSc or LLM and have made a firm commitment to Ulster University during the admissions phase;

• Are a US union member; or;

• Have a familial connection to a US union member (mother, father, sibling, aunt, uncle, grandparent); or;

• Can provide a reference letter from a union sponsor.

Submission

Applications for September 2023 will open in October 2022 and will close on 30 April 2023.

The Study Abroad Scholarship is open to all international students who have previously studied at Ulster University as an exchange or study abroad student, and who wish to continue their studies on one of our Masters programmes.

GREAT Scholarships are jointly funded by Ulster University with the UK government’s GREATBritain campaign and the British Council.

We are offering £10,000 towards tuition fees for one-year Masters programmes (excluding eLearning) to students from Bangladesh, China, Egypt, Ghana and Indonesia, who will enrol into UK higher education institutions in the 2023-24 academic year. Five (5) of scholarships are available.

• Bangladesh - 1 x scholarship of £10,000 towards your tuition fee

• China - 1 x scholarship of £10,000 towards your tuition fee

• Egypt - 1 x scholarship of £10,000 towards your tuition fee

• Ghana - 1 x scholarship of £10,000 towards your tuition fee

• Indonesia - 1 x scholarship of £10,000 towards your tuition fee

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible to apply for this scholarship you must:

• Hold a valid passport from Bangladesh, China, Egypt, Ghana or Indonesia.

• Hold an offer for a full-time postgraduate taught programme delivered on one of our campuses in Northern Ireland (Belfast, Jordanstown, Coleraine or Magee), commencing in September 2023 and meet any academic and/or English language conditions as stated in your offer letter.

• Note: Students applying to part-time or eLearning programmes, or to programmes delivered at our branch campuses (London or Birmingham) are not eligible for this award.

Please note that recipients of this award will be international ambassadors and will be required to undertake various marketing activities during their studies.
