The final SI-UK University Fair of 2016 is almost here, with 100 UK universities confirmed to attend at the Lancaster London Hotel on November 12th! In addition to meeting a wide range of universities on the day, the seminar schedule promises to educate and inform on a wide range of subjects as well. Here is what to expect.

The day begins with the basics of who UCAS are and how to apply for an undergraduate course in the UK.

13:00 Applying for postgraduate study

If you are an undergraduate student who is interested in studying at masters level, then do not miss out as we run through application requirements and scholarship and tuition fee information.

13:30 Hints and Tips on the IELTS test

To study at a UK university, a minimum IELTS score of 5.5 is generally needed. It is important to know what to study and expect when taking the exam, and teacher Evaldo Dutra will take you through the basics of test preparation.

14:00 How to write a powerful personal statement

When applying to a university in the UK, students will need to sell themselves by writing a personal statement which details why they should offer you a place. We will run through what – and what not to – include.

14:30 Applying to top UK universities

Do you have what it takes to apply to the very best UK universities? Institutions such as Cambridge and Oxford require academic excellence and have much tougher entry requirements. SI-UK’s Oxbridge graduate Robert Money will take you through what to expect when applying.

15:00 Why you should study Engineering

Dr. Carl Anthony, Mechanical Engineering Admissions Tutor at the University of Birmingham, is hosting a special seminar on why you should study engineering in the UK.

Carl is currently a lecturer in MicroEngineering. His research interests are in the field of Microsystems engineering; focused on coupled/nonlinear resonator systems, autonomous oscillators, energy harvesting for mobile/remote sensors, bio-MEMS tactile sensors and focused ion beam microfabrication techniques. He is also the admissions tutor for Mechanical Engineering at Birmingham.
