The Undergraduate Study Abroad Scholarship competition offers £2,000 towards an approved year abroad, for one year only (or pro-rata for the period spent abroad).

Many University of Kent undergraduate degrees offer the option of a full academic year abroad.  Details of courses and countries can be found on the Go Abroad website.


  • Open to all UK and EU full-time applicants.
  • Applicants must have made an application through UCAS for a full-time undergraduate course, starting in September 2019, which includes a year abroad.
  • Applicants must obtain a minimum of 136 tariff points (from 3 A levels) or equivalent, and must fulfil the normal entry requirements for their course.
  • Applicants are asked to submit an essay.

How to apply

Applicants must make their application for the Study Abroad Scholarship at the same time as they make their UCAS application to Kent.

Applications should be made via your KentVision portal at:

You will be asked to upload an essay of 750-1000 words on "Why I wish to study abroad as part of my Kent degree, and how this will help me in my future career".

Save the essay as a Word document.  At the top of the document, please include:

  • The essay title
  • Your full name
  • Your University of Kent identification number

The deadline for applications is Midnight 1 April 2019.
